Moments turns the Museum of Málaga into a creative lab with free design, video and art workshops
The festival will bring ikebana, graphic design, audiovisual creation and fashion workshops to the Museum of Málaga this weekend
The Museum of Málaga will become more than an exhibition space this weekend, turning into a place for hands-on creativity. Moments Festival will hold a new series of workshops on 31 October and 1 November as part of its Design&Film Weekend, with activities combining design, art, video, fashion and contemporary visual culture.
The sessions will take place at the Andalusian Institute of Visual and Plastic Arts, inside the Museum of Málaga, and are aimed at students, professionals and anyone interested in creative processes. All activities are free, although advance registration is required and places are limited.
From the wall to a garment: textile design with Iker Muro
One of Sunday’s workshops will be ‘From the Wall to the Hanger’, led by designer, illustrator and mural artist Iker Muro.
How to turn a visual idea into clothing
The session will explore the process of taking a drawing or graphic concept and adapting it to clothing, including how to work with different formats, develop a visual identity and build a distinctive brand.
The workshop is scheduled for Sunday 1 November, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm, with very limited capacity.
Live image and sound with Music Komité
Saturday will bring a more experimental proposal from Music Komité with the workshop ‘Abitar el herror’.
The activity focuses on live audiovisual creation, combining video, sound and tools commonly used in VJ performance.
Creating a collective piece in real time
Participants will learn how to mix visual and sound materials and use them as part of a live composition, exploring image as a performative tool rather than simply a static medium.
The workshop will take place on 31 October from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
Ikebana: flowers as a creative tool
Saturday’s programme also includes ‘A Flower with Love. Introduction to Ikebana’, led by María Ramírez.
The session takes inspiration from the Japanese art of flower arrangement and the work of Bruno Munari, encouraging participants to experiment with form, balance, natural materials and composition.
A workshop between design and nature
Rather than focusing only on technique, the activity treats flower arranging as an exercise in observation and visual construction.
It will take place on Saturday morning at the Museum of Málaga.
Realmente Bravo transforms everyday objects into design
Another Saturday workshop will be ‘Found Graphics. Creative Processes, Play and DIY’, by the design studio Realmente Bravo.
The workshop starts with everyday images and objects and transforms them through graphic processes, experimentation and a mix of analogue and digital techniques.
Designing from what already exists
The idea is to show that creativity does not always begin with a blank screen.
A found object, texture, photograph or ordinary item can become the starting point for a new graphic piece.
The session will run from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
Unbuentipo explores the power of visual metaphor
On Sunday, Álvaro Fernández, better known as Unbuentipo, will lead ‘The Power of Visual Rhetoric’.
The workshop focuses on how images can communicate more complex ideas through associations, reinterpretation and metaphor.
Learning to read images differently
The session will combine visual references with practical exercises designed to help participants create new meanings using simple graphic resources.
The workshop will take place on 1 November, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm, in the Museum of Málaga auditorium.
Free workshops, but registration is essential
All activities are free, but that does not mean visitors can simply turn up without booking.
Places are limited and advance registration is required through the official Moments Festival channels.
The organisers must confirm each booking, so availability should be checked before travelling to the museum.
Moments brings contemporary creativity to the Museum of Málaga
The programme forms part of the Moments International Festival of Contemporary Cultures & Arts, which throughout October and November brings together photography, design, film, mural art, music, craft and urban culture.
This weekend, the Museum of Málaga will become a place not only to look at art, but also to create images, transform objects, experiment with sound and even turn a drawing into a garment.
