Halloween arrives this Saturday, 31 October, with one of the busiest autumn entertainment programmes across Málaga and the Costa del Sol. Town halls throughout the province have organised haunted houses, family parties, shows, parades, workshops and concerts for anyone looking to celebrate the spookiest night of the year.

From an immersive theatrical experience inside Málaga’s botanical garden to a convent in Ronda transformed into a Resident Evil-inspired horror setting, these are some of the main officially confirmed plans for Halloween 2026.

Málaga: horror in the gardens, magic and neighbourhood events

Málaga city offers several options for very different audiences on Saturday 31 October.

Halloween at La Concepción Botanical Garden

One of the most unusual events will take place at the La Concepción Historical-Botanical Garden, which will host a night-time theatrical experience from 7:00 pm.

The garden will become the setting for a mysterious student residence hiding a dark secret, with visitors becoming part of the story as they move through the grounds.

Tickets cost €17 and advance booking is required by phone. Earlier sessions are particularly suitable for families with children.

Churriana’s Night of Terror returns

Another free option is the 11th Churriana Night of Terror, which will transform the Las Pedrizas neighbourhood into a large Halloween route.

The event will run from 7:00 pm until midnight, with themed streets, characters and horror settings. It is open to all ages and visitors are encouraged to come in costume.

Magic and a haunted attraction at Parque de San Rafael

The city programme also includes a Halloween Party at Parque de San Rafael, featuring a haunted attraction, children’s entertainment and a magic show.

It is especially suited to families looking for a Halloween celebration without leaving Málaga city.

Benalmádena: two areas and hours of Halloween entertainment

Benalmádena has prepared one of the most extensive Halloween programmes on the Costa del Sol.

Events will take place in both Benalmádena Pueblo and Arroyo de la Miel on 31 October, with some activities continuing into 1 November.

Children’s party and haunted house in Benalmádena Pueblo

The afternoon will begin at 6:00 pm in Plaza de las Tres Culturas with a children’s party, storytelling and competitions.

At 8:00 pm, a parade accompanied by percussion performers will begin.

The main attraction will be the ‘Los Páez’ Haunted House, next to the Town Hall, open from 7:00 pm until 2:00 am.

Different Horror Corners will also be set up around the town centre from 9:00 pm to 1:00 am.

‘The Monastery’ takes over Plaza de la Mezquita

In Arroyo de la Miel, Plaza de la Mezquita will host the ‘The Monastery’ haunted experience on 31 October and 1 November.

It will be open from 7:00 pm until 2:00 am, with admission priced at €2.50.

A specially adapted session for people with additional accessibility needs is also scheduled for 2 November.

Mijas turns all three town centres into Halloween settings

In Mijas, Halloween will be celebrated simultaneously in Mijas Pueblo, La Cala and Las Lagunas, each with its own theme.

All activities are free and no advance registration is required.

‘Alice in Nightmareland’ in Mijas Pueblo

Plaza Virgen de la Peña will host activities from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm, inspired by a darker version of the world of Alice in Wonderland.

There will be storytelling, magic, DJs, survival games and themed parades.

‘The Enchanted Night’ in La Cala

Parque de La Butibamba will host ‘The Enchanted Night’ from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

The programme combines music, stories, magic, games and two themed parades.

Haunted attraction in Las Lagunas

Las Lagunas will celebrate ‘Scary Stories’ between 6:00 pm and midnight around Cortijo Don Elías and the fairground area.

One of the main attractions will be a haunted experience inside Cortijo Don Elías, open continuously from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

All three areas will also include a quiet hour designed for visitors with sensory sensitivities.

Fuengirola celebrates Halloween with music and costumes

Fuengirola is offering a slightly different Halloween programme this year.

Halloween concert at Palacio de la Paz

The Fuengirola Municipal Band will perform a special Halloween concert on Saturday 31 October at 7:30 pm at Palacio de la Paz.

The programme includes music by composers such as Saint-Saëns and Danny Elfman, with participation from students at the Professional Music Conservatory.

Admission is free and the public is encouraged to attend in costume.

Witches, skeletons and costumes at Sohail Castle

That same weekend, Sohail Castle will host the International Toy and Collectors’ Fair.

Although not exclusively a Halloween event, Saturday’s programme will include mask-making workshops, spooky crafts, entertainment with witches and skeletons, and a Halloween costume competition.

Admission is free and the fair will be open on Saturday from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm.

Estepona dedicates an entire week to Stephen King

Estepona has extended its Halloween celebrations across most of the week with a special programme inspired by Stephen King and the 50th anniversary of the film adaptation of Carrie.

Cinema, exhibition and ‘Symphony of Terror’

Activities begin on Monday 26 October at Teatro Auditorio Felipe VI with the opening of the ‘Stephen King Universe’ exhibition.

The programme includes film events and culminates on Friday 30 October with ‘Symphony of Terror’, performed by the Ciudad de Jaén Symphony Band, featuring music associated with films such as Carrie, Misery, Psycho, Alien and Jaws.

A major Halloween party on Saturday

On Saturday 31, the Exhibition and Conference Centre will host a large family Halloween party from 7:00 pm.

There will be costume competitions, DJs, inflatables, trick or treating, an H. P. Lovecraft-inspired escape room and a virtual reality experience.

The Haunted Passage will open from 8:00 pm, while Dr. Jones will perform at 10:00 pm.

The costume competition offers €500 prizes for the five best groups and €100 for ten individual characters.

Vélez-Málaga: family Halloween and a new haunted attraction

Central Vélez-Málaga will also be transformed on Saturday.

Activities begin at 5:30 pm in Plaza de las Carmelitas, with face painting, fake wound workshops, temporary tattoos, balloon modelling and crafts.

Parade and ‘Night of the Villains’

At 6:00 pm, a spooky parade will travel from Calle Canalejas to Plaza de las Carmelitas.

Half an hour later, the children’s show ‘Night of the Villains’ will begin.

New haunted attraction on Paseo de Andalucía

Between 8:30 pm and 11:30 pm, Paseo de Andalucía will host this year’s new haunted attraction.

It will be one of the main additions to Vélez-Málaga’s Halloween programme.

Torre del Mar adds parades, workshops and horror on Paseo de Larios

Also within Vélez-Málaga municipality, Torre del Mar will hold its own Halloween celebration on Saturday 31.

The programme starts at 7:00 pm, with Paseo de Larios serving as one of the main locations.

There will be a large parade, children’s activities and a renewed haunted attraction, with participation from La Carpa Teatro, Feel The Music and Estep Dance.

Ronda turns a convent into a Resident Evil-style horror world

Anyone looking for a more intense experience can head to Ronda.

The celebrations begin at 5:00 pm with a children’s parade from Avenida Martínez Astein to Plaza del Socorro.

Free workshops in Plaza del Socorro

Between 5:30 pm and 8:30 pm, there will be free face painting, badge-making, tattoos and children’s activities.

A Resident Evil-inspired haunted experience

From 7:30 pm, the Convento de Santo Domingo will become a horror attraction inspired by the Resident Evil universe, with zombies, mutations and sinister experiments.

The experience will remain open until 12:30 am.

Admission is a €2 donation, with proceeds going to the Red Cross to support social programmes in Ronda and the Serranía.

What about Maroween in Nerja?

Maro is expected to celebrate its traditional Maroween on 31 October, combining Halloween with its Chestnut and Sweet Potato Festival.

However, as of 26 October, I have not found a complete 2026 programme with confirmed times and activities on the official Nerja Town Hall website.

It is therefore advisable to check the municipal agenda before travelling.

A Halloween weekend for horror fans, families and music lovers

This year’s programme offers very different ways to celebrate.

Those looking for stronger horror experiences can choose Ronda, Benalmádena, Mijas, Vélez-Málaga or Churriana.

Families with children have plenty of options in Mijas, Estepona, Benalmádena and Vélez-Málaga, while Fuengirola offers a more musical alternative at Palacio de la Paz.

And for something completely different, the theatrical night experience at La Concepción Botanical Garden offers Halloween among tropical plants and historic gardens.

With 31 October falling on a Saturday this year, Málaga and the Costa del Sol are set for one of the busiest entertainment weekends of the autumn.
