Street Markets

Markets are once again one of the easiest ways to enjoy the weekend in Málaga. On Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October, the city will host a variety of events where visitors can browse crafts, fashion, accessories, gourmet products, vintage items and local food.

One of the main meeting points will once again be Muelle Uno, where the Autumn Market will coincide with another edition of Zoco Maravilla.

Traditional neighbourhood markets and other shopping events across the city complete a particularly varied weekend agenda.

Zoco Maravilla returns to Muelle Uno on Sunday

On Sunday 18 October, Muelle Uno will host another edition of Zoco Maravilla, one of the best-known craft markets in central Málaga.

The event regularly brings together a wide range of exhibitors under the covered areas of the port promenade.

The market will be open for much of Sunday, approximately from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Its location also makes it easy to combine the visit with a walk around the port, Palmeral de las Sorpresas, La Malagueta or one of Muelle Uno’s restaurants.

Crafts, fashion and gourmet products

One of the main attractions of Zoco Maravilla is the variety of stalls.

Visitors can usually find handmade products, fashion, accessories, home décor and gourmet food.

The food section often includes products such as olive oil, Iberian cured meats, organic goods and other specialities.

Handmade items and decorative pieces also feature prominently, along with clothing and accessories for both adults and children.

It can therefore be a good place to look for an unusual gift or simply browse products from small producers and independent designers.

The Autumn Market remains open every day

Zoco Maravilla will not be the only market available at Muelle Uno.

The Autumn Market also continues throughout the weekend after opening at the port at the end of September.

The market will remain in place until 9 November 2026.

Its usual opening hours are 10:00 am to 10:00 pm every day, making it easy to visit on either Saturday or Sunday.

What can you find at the Autumn Market?

The market brings together stalls selling a wide variety of products.

These usually include:

  • clothing;
  • accessories;
  • jewellery;
  • food products;
  • small gifts;
  • handmade goods;
  • seasonal items.

Its seafront setting makes it an easy option for both residents and visitors spending the weekend in central Málaga.

Plaza de la Merced also joins the Sunday market scene

Another regular location for craft markets in the city centre is Plaza de la Merced.

A new edition of La Merced & Co / Market & Co is expected on Sunday, with exhibitors focused mainly on crafts, fashion, accessories and independent design.

This type of event has a different feel from a traditional food market.

Stalls tend to feature small creators and local brands selling jewellery, handbags, decorative items and clothing.

The event is expected to run on Sunday from approximately 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

A walking route from one market to another

The short distance between Plaza de la Merced and Muelle Uno makes it easy to create a walking route through central Málaga.

You can start in Plaza de la Merced and the historic centre before heading down through Calle Alcazabilla or Calle Granada towards the port.

Once at Muelle Uno, you can visit both Zoco Maravilla and the Autumn Market.

The route can also include Palmeral de las Sorpresas, the Centre Pompidou, La Farola or a walk along La Malagueta.

It is a particularly convenient option for anyone wanting to spend several hours in central Málaga without using the car.

Traditional markets on Saturday

Those looking for a more traditional neighbourhood market will also find several options on Saturday morning.

Málaga city regularly hosts markets in areas such as El Palo, Avenida Europa and Argentea.

These tend to focus more on everyday products, with stalls selling:

  • fruit and vegetables;
  • clothes;
  • footwear;
  • jewellery;
  • accessories;
  • food;
  • household items.

Typical opening hours are approximately 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

El Palo Saturday market

The El Palo market takes place on Saturdays in Plaza Virgen de la Milagrosa.

It has dozens of stalls and combines fresh food with clothing, accessories and other small items.

For anyone staying in eastern Málaga, it can be a good way to start the morning before continuing along the seafront towards Pedregalejo and El Palo.

Sunday second-hand market at Cortijo de Torres

Sunday 18 October also brings the well-known Cortijo de Torres second-hand market.

This market is especially popular with people looking for used goods, antiques, decorative pieces and vintage items.

It normally brings together more than a hundred stalls and remains open throughout the morning and into the early afternoon.

It offers a very different experience from the craft markets in the city centre, with a stronger focus on reuse and second-hand shopping.

Antiques, clothes and unexpected finds

One of the attractions of second-hand markets is that it is difficult to know exactly what you will find.

Stalls may include books, records, home décor, clothes, tools, small furniture and older collectables.

For anyone who enjoys looking for unusual pieces or simply browsing through varied stalls, Cortijo de Torres is one of Málaga’s most distinctive weekend markets.

Craft markets or traditional street markets?

This weekend’s programme offers several different types of shopping experience.

On one side are craft markets and pop-up markets, usually focused on independent designers, handmade goods, fashion, decoration and gourmet food.

Then there are the traditional neighbourhood markets, where fresh produce, clothes, shoes and everyday products are more common.

And finally, there are second-hand markets, which focus on vintage items, antiques and pre-owned goods.

An affordable way to enjoy Málaga

One of the advantages of visiting a market is that you do not need to buy anything to enjoy the experience.

Browsing stalls, discovering local products and combining the visit with a walk makes it an easy free or low-cost plan.

Several of this weekend’s markets are also located in particularly attractive areas.

Muelle Uno can be combined with a walk around the port and La Malagueta, while Plaza de la Merced sits right in the heart of the historic centre.

Food and local products

Food will also play an important role during the weekend.

At Muelle Uno in particular, gourmet stalls provide opportunities to discover products linked to Andalusian and Spanish cuisine.

Olive oil, cured meats, organic products and other artisan foods are often part of the selection.

This makes the markets not only shopping destinations but also showcases for small producers.

Málaga’s markets bring life to the third weekend of October

October is one of the most pleasant months for exploring outdoor markets in Málaga.

Temperatures are usually comfortable enough to spend much of the day outside, while many events take place by the sea or in open public spaces.

This third weekend of the month offers options for almost every kind of visitor, from those looking for crafts and independent design to those interested in food, fresh produce or antiques.

With Zoco Maravilla, the Autumn Market, central craft markets and traditional neighbourhood stalls, Málaga offers another easy way to enjoy Saturday and Sunday without leaving the city.
