Benalauría Improves Its Schools with Air Conditioning, Painting and Roof Repairs

Improvements at Both Educational Centres

Benalauría has used the beginning of the school year to improve the facilities at its two educational centres. The work has been carried out at CPR Serranía, located in the main village, and CPR Sierra del Espino in the hamlet of Siete Pilas.

Both belong to rural public schools that help preserve local education in small communities across the Serranía de Ronda and prevent pupils from having to travel to other municipalities every day.

Air Conditioning and Painting in Siete Pilas

A new air-conditioning unit has been installed at CPR Sierra del Espino to improve classroom temperatures during the hottest and coldest months of the academic year.

The school has also undergone comprehensive painting work intended to renovate its facilities and improve the appearance of the areas used by pupils.

The air-conditioning system was installed through the Andalusian Regional Government’s Thermal Comfort Plan. The remaining improvements were financed and carried out using municipal resources.

Maintenance at CPR Serranía

The improvement programme has also included CPR Serranía. Maintenance work has been completed on the school roof to prevent leaks and water seepage during rainy periods.

Air conditioning has also been installed in the only classroom that did not previously have it, while several areas of the building have been repainted.

Further Work Following Improvements in Recent Years

The latest projects follow several other improvements completed during the previous two academic years. These included installing air conditioning in two CPR Serranía classrooms and fitting a hot-water heater in the toilets at the Siete Pilas school.

The playgrounds at both centres have also received recycling bins and awnings to create shaded areas and protect pupils from the sun.

Two Schools for Twenty Pupils

Benalauría’s two educational centres have a combined total of twenty pupils this academic year. Maintaining these facilities is particularly important for ensuring the continuity of education in the municipality and its hamlet.

The Town Council has stated that it will continue carrying out the necessary work to improve the schools and respond to the needs of the educational community.
