Starlite Marbella strengthens its role as a musical bridge between Spain and Latin America

In its 15th anniversary edition, the Marbella festival is reinforcing its international profile with a strong Latin presence and the arrival of Premios Juventud, which will be held in Europe for the first time on 3 September.

For 15 summers, Starlite Occident Marbella has brought together artists from very different generations and musical styles in the natural setting of the Cantera de Nagüeles. In 2026, however, the festival is placing particular emphasis on a connection that has become increasingly important to the international music industry: the link between Spain and Latin America.

The objective goes beyond booking major Latin stars for the Marbella stage. Starlite wants to strengthen its position as a meeting point where artists, audiences and music professionals from both sides of the Atlantic can connect, creating opportunities for Latin American talent to reach Spain and Europe and for Spanish artists to increase their visibility across the Americas.

This strategy is particularly visible in a 2026 programme featuring major names from Spanish-language music and will reach one of its most important moments on 3 September, when Marbella hosts Premios Juventud.

Latin music takes a leading role in Starlite 2026

Latin American music has been part of Starlite’s identity for years, but its presence is especially significant during the festival’s 15th anniversary edition.

The 2026 programme has included artists from across the Spanish-speaking world, with performers such as Juan Luis Guerra, Ozuna, Yandel, Manuel Turizo, Danny Ocean, Gloria Trevi, Grupo Frontera, Gente de Zona, Elena Rose, Mora and Elvis Crespo appearing during the summer.

They share the programme with major Spanish and international artists, creating a line-up in which Latin pop, urban music, bachata, reggaeton and Caribbean sounds sit alongside flamenco, Spanish pop, rock, jazz and international classics.

For Starlite, this combination offers an opportunity to use Marbella as more than simply a concert destination.

Marbella as a gateway between two music markets

Spain has traditionally played an important role as an entry point into Europe for Latin American artists.

Sharing a language gives performers an obvious advantage, but the relationship now goes considerably further. Streaming platforms and social media have created audiences that increasingly consume music without paying much attention to borders.

A hit released in Puerto Rico, Colombia, Mexico or Argentina can reach listeners in Spain almost immediately. The same process works in the opposite direction for Spanish artists seeking audiences in Mexico, the United States or South America.

Starlite wants Marbella to become one of the physical meeting points for that increasingly global ecosystem.

Its founders see the festival as a platform capable of connecting artists, record companies, media, brands, creators and audiences from Europe and the Americas in the same place during the summer.

Premios Juventud chooses Marbella for a historic European edition

The clearest example of this international ambition will arrive on Thursday 3 September 2026.

For the first time in its history, Premios Juventud will leave the American continent and hold an edition in Europe, choosing the Starlite auditorium in Marbella as its venue.

The awards have spent more than two decades celebrating Latin music, pop culture and younger generations, giving significant visibility to artists across the United States and Latin America.

Bringing the ceremony to Marbella therefore places the Costa del Sol directly within one of the largest showcases for contemporary Latin entertainment.

The event will also be accompanied by PJ Fest, a wider programme of music and cultural experiences surrounding the awards.

An international showcase reaching millions of viewers

The significance of Premios Juventud goes far beyond the audience attending the ceremony in Marbella.

The event is connected to the TelevisaUnivision media ecosystem and will be broadcast through platforms and channels including Univision, UNIMÁS, Galavisión, YouTube and ViX.

That international reach creates an additional opportunity for Spanish performers.

Artists from Spain will not only share a stage and industry environment with major Latin American names, but can also gain exposure to audiences in markets where Spanish-language music has enormous commercial importance.

At the same time, Latin American artists appearing in Marbella gain direct visibility in Spain and access to a festival attended by an international European audience.

Spanish and Latin artists increasingly share the same audience

The distinction between the Spanish and Latin American music industries has also become increasingly blurred.

Spanish artists regularly collaborate with performers from Colombia, Puerto Rico, Mexico or Argentina, while Latin musicians fill arenas and headline festivals throughout Spain.

Genres have also become more interconnected. Pop increasingly incorporates urban sounds, flamenco crosses paths with reggaeton and electronic production, and Caribbean rhythms coexist naturally with mainstream European music.

Starlite’s strategy reflects that evolution: instead of treating Latin music as a separate part of the programme, it becomes one of the central components of an international festival.

Marbella gains visibility beyond tourism

The initiative also has implications for Marbella itself.

The city is internationally associated with beaches, luxury hotels, golf, gastronomy and high-end tourism, but major cultural events have increasingly become part of its global positioning.

During summer, Starlite attracts artists and visitors from numerous countries, generating activity not only inside the venue but also across hotels, restaurants and other tourism businesses.

The arrival of Premios Juventud adds another dimension by giving Marbella international exposure through television, streaming and social media, particularly in the United States and Latin America.

In this sense, the festival is helping position the Costa del Sol not only as somewhere to spend a holiday, but also as a venue capable of hosting major international entertainment events.

Fifteen years later, Starlite looks increasingly international

Starlite began by transforming an old quarry in Marbella into an intimate summer concert venue. Fifteen years later, its ambitions are considerably broader.

The festival continues to rely on its distinctive setting and close relationship between artists and audiences, but its development increasingly involves international partnerships, media platforms and connections between different music markets.

The strong Latin presence in its 2026 line-up and the arrival of Premios Juventud illustrate the direction in which the project is heading.

For Marbella, it means hosting artists from both sides of the Atlantic. For the industry, the ambition is larger: to turn Starlite into a place where Spain and Latin America do not simply share a language and a stage, but new opportunities for international growth.

Starlite confirms that Premios Juventud will take place at its Marbella auditorium on 3 September 2026 and will be held in Europe for the first time in the awards’ history, with full details available through the official Starlite Occident website.
