Marbella is set to add a major new luxury hotel development on the Mediterranean coast. Platinum Estates and Sierra Blanca Estates will develop the future St. Regis Marbella Resort in Las Chapas, managed by Marriott International, with an investment of more than €500 million and an opening planned for 2031.

The resort will be built on a site of more than 160,000 square metres and will include 169 rooms and suites, together with 151 luxury residences ranging from two to five bedrooms. The homes will start at around 150 square metres, with the largest units reaching close to 1,000 square metres.

The development will also include more than 5,000 square metres dedicated to dining, leisure and wellness, as well as swimming pools, sports facilities, landscaped gardens, a beach club and around 1,100 square metres for meetings and events. The design will follow the natural slope of the land and place strong emphasis on open spaces and landscaping.

One of the resort’s main attractions will be its beachfront location, with more than 350 metres of coastline. The project is being developed next to a natural dune system and will also include environmental restoration work and an extension of Marbella’s coastal path.

Construction is expected to generate more than 2,000 direct jobs and around 4,500 indirect jobs, while the resort itself is forecast to create more than 450 permanent positions once open. The wider project will also include improvements to local road infrastructure in the Las Chapas area.

The arrival of St. Regis further strengthens Marbella’s position as an international destination for luxury tourism and high-end property. If the current timetable is maintained, the resort will become one of the most significant new hotel and residential developments on the Costa del Sol when it opens in 2031.
