Five Days of Festivities in One of Málaga’s Smallest Villages

Serrato, a municipality in the Serranía de Ronda with around 400 residents, will celebrate its patron saint festivities from Wednesday 7 to Sunday 11 October 2026.

The Nuestra Señora del Rosario Fair will offer a programme for residents and visitors of all ages, combining religious traditions, concerts, children’s games, local food and community activities.

The event traditionally attracts former residents, relatives and visitors from surrounding villages, bringing extra life to the streets and temporarily multiplying the local population.

Nuestra Señora del Rosario Takes Centre Stage

Wednesday 7 October will be dedicated to Nuestra Señora del Rosario, the patron saint of Serrato. Religious services and a procession carrying the statue through the village will provide one of the most moving moments of the celebrations.

Serrato’s October fair is closely connected to this religious tradition. The procession usually brings together a large part of the local community and remains the central ceremonial event.

The 2026 fair will not feature any fireworks because of restrictions introduced to reduce the risk of forest fires.

Children’s Games and Family Activities

Children will play an important part in the 2026 Serrato Fair. The programme includes games, entertainment and activities designed for families to enjoy together.

These activities will take place across the different days of the fair, complementing a programme adapted to a small rural community where celebrations are held in public spaces and neighbourhood meeting points.

Fairground rides and stalls will also offer additional entertainment throughout the five-day celebration.

Concerts and Live Music

Music will be another major attraction during the patron saint festivities. The programme includes concerts and live performances during the afternoons and evenings.

One of the confirmed performances is a concert by Longplay, scheduled for Sunday 11 October at 8:00 p.m. in the Municipal Marquee.

The musical programme makes Serrato an appealing destination for anyone looking for a different way to enjoy the October holiday weekend in Málaga province.

Free Churros and a Community Atmosphere

One of the fair’s most eye-catching activities will be a free churros tasting. The event will give residents and visitors an opportunity to share a traditional Spanish breakfast or afternoon treat in a welcoming atmosphere.

This gastronomic activity will complement the fair’s community gatherings. In Serrato, the celebrations retain the friendly and familiar character associated with the small villages of the Serranía de Ronda.

Food, music and group activities will bring different generations together and strengthen the connection between current residents and those returning for the annual festivities.

A Chance to Discover Serrato

The fair is also an opportunity to discover this small inland municipality in Málaga province. Its rural surroundings, quiet streets and local traditions offer an alternative to the larger celebrations held along the Costa del Sol.

Admission to the main programme is free, although fairground rides, stalls and certain services may charge separately.

The October festivities provide a chance to enjoy music, local food and village traditions in one of Málaga’s least populated municipalities.
