Four Days Celebrating Books in Torremolinos

The Torremolinos Book Fair will take place from Thursday 8 to Sunday 11 October 2026 on Avenida Marifé de Triana. For four days, this central location will become a meeting place for readers, writers, publishers and local booksellers.

Visitors will be able to browse stalls featuring new publications and books covering a variety of genres. The programme combines author talks and signings with poetry readings, literary workshops, storytelling and activities designed to encourage reading.

Featured guests include Lola Pons, Juan Manuel Gil, Miguel Santamaría, Isabel Bono and Antonio Fontana. Independent writers and local literary groups will also participate throughout the event.

Programme for Thursday 8 October

The fair will open on Thursday afternoon. At 6:00 p.m., journalist Miguel Santamaría will present his debut novel, La hora de los monstruos, a suspense story about an investigator forced to confront his own limits.

At 7:00 p.m., Isabel Bono will discuss her book El mal de la risa. The opening day will conclude at 8:00 p.m. with a poetry reading by Isabel Guerrero.

Authors will sign copies after their respective talks, giving visitors an opportunity to meet them and receive personally dedicated books.

Lola Pons and Literary Activities on Friday 9 October

Linguist and writer Lola Pons will be one of Friday’s main guests, discussing her book El dedo en los labios and sharing insights into the Spanish language and its evolution.

At 7:00 p.m., Ángel Luis Fernández will lead El princhiquito, an activity that revisits literary classics through the distinctive humour associated with Málaga comedian Chiquito de la Calzada.

The programme will also feature María Zambrano, la voz que nunca acaba, a literary workshop coordinated by cultural manager Cristina Consuegra and dedicated to the work and ideas of the Málaga-born philosopher and writer.

Storytelling and Juan Manuel Gil on Saturday 10 October

Saturday’s programme will begin at noon with Zombies, vampiros y lectura a gogó, a reading activity featuring Málaga writer Carlos Sisí.

Elena Lekuona will hold two storytelling sessions for children at 1:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. The María Zambrano literary workshop will be repeated at 6:00 p.m.

At 7:00 p.m., Juan Manuel Gil will discuss his novel Majareta with readers before signing copies of the book.

Antonio Fontana and the Final Day

The final day will begin at 11:00 a.m. with another children’s storytelling session led by Elena Lekuona. At 12:30 p.m., Antonio Fontana will present his novel Mala entraña, followed by a book signing.

Sunday’s programme will also include Cómo leer a señoras estupendas: las mujeres del 27, an activity led by Rubí García that highlights the legacy of the women writers associated with Spain’s Generation of ’27.

The combination of national and local authors, book stalls and family activities makes the Torremolinos Book Fair one of the Costa del Sol’s leading free cultural events this October.
