Fuengirola a Caballo 2026: equestrian shows, carriage displays and live music on 19 September
Fuengirola town centre will fill with horses on Saturday, 19 September, with a full day of equestrian displays, competitions, riders, carriage events and music ahead of the Feria del Rosario.
Fuengirola will once again bring its equestrian traditions into the streets this September. On Saturday, 19 September 2026, the town will celebrate the ninth edition of Fuengirola a Caballo, a full-day event taking place across several central locations.
Activities will begin at 11:30 am and continue until 10:00 pm, with events spread across Plaza de la Constitución, Plaza Reyes Católicos, Avenida Condes de San Isidro and other areas of the town centre.
The programme includes equestrian shows, live music, a ladies’ riding parade and a traditional dress and harness competition, as well as two of the day’s main events: the 48th Ciudad de Fuengirola Carriage Exhibition and the 3rd International Traditional Harness Competition in memory of José Luis Martín Lorca.
Horse-drawn carriages will parade through Fuengirola
The day will begin at 11:30 am with the presentation of participants in the 48th Ciudad de Fuengirola Carriage Exhibition.
At 12:00 pm, the carriages will begin their route through several streets in the town, with both the start and finish taking place at the Plaza de Toros.
The carriage display has become one of the most recognisable parts of Fuengirola a Caballo, bringing traditional horse-drawn vehicles and participants in formal equestrian dress into the heart of the town.
The programme will also include the International Traditional Harness Competition, now in its third edition and held in memory of José Luis Martín Lorca.
Equestrian shows in Plaza de la Constitución
From 12:30 pm, activity will spread across the centre of Fuengirola.
Plaza de la Constitución will host a series of equestrian shows, giving visitors the chance to watch different displays throughout the day.
Nearby, Plaza Reyes Católicos will become the main stage for live music, with performances also beginning at 12:30 pm and continuing through the afternoon and evening.
The programme also includes a ladies’ riding parade and a traditional dress and harness competition, highlighting not only the horses themselves but also the clothing and decorative traditions associated with Andalusian equestrian culture.
Prize ceremony in the afternoon
Another key moment will take place at 5:50 pm.
The prize ceremony for the competition and carriage exhibition will be held on Avenida Condes de San Isidro, close to Plaza Reyes Católicos.
Shows and musical performances will then continue until around 10:00 pm, completing more than ten hours of activities across the town centre.
A preview of the Feria del Rosario
Fuengirola a Caballo has also become one of the events that signals the approach of the town’s most important annual festivities.
The Feria del Rosario, traditionally held from 6 to 12 October, has a strong connection with the equestrian world, and the September event provides an early taste of that atmosphere.
One of the main attractions is that the celebration is not confined to a single venue. Horses, carriages and riders will move through different parts of central Fuengirola, turning the town itself into part of the event.
