MálagaCrea 2026 Brings 22 Artists to Four Free Concerts at Eduardo Ocón

Four Thursdays Celebrating Young Musicians

Eduardo Ocón Auditorium becomes one of Málaga’s leading stages for emerging musical talent throughout September. The final stage of MálagaCrea Contemporary Music 2026 features 22 bands and solo artists across four free concerts.

Performances began on Thursday, 3 September, and will continue on 10, 17 and 24 September. Each event starts at 7:30 p.m., with free admission until the venue reaches capacity.

Every band or solo performer selected by the jury will have a maximum of 30 minutes to present their music to the audience.

The opening concert on 3 September featured Bejamín Paco, Jorge Ogalla, Joana Romero, J. Zambrana, Bacon Kid and Javi Poza.

The final evening will include a special performance by Anadie, followed by the announcement of the winners and the awards ceremony.

Cash Prizes for the Top Three Performers

The jury will award three cash prizes to the highest-rated entries. The winning artist or group will receive €2,200, while second and third place will be awarded €1,500 and €900 respectively.

Beyond the prize money, the competition gives emerging musicians an opportunity to perform live, reach new audiences and take part in a municipal programme dedicated to young creators.

MálagaCrea is open to musicians aged between 15 and 35 who were born, study, work or live in Málaga province. Bands and solo performers representing a variety of popular music styles can participate.

A Competition with More Than Four Decades of History

MálagaCrea forms part of the cultural programme organised by Málaga City Council’s Youth Department. Its purpose is to create opportunities for young artists and support the development of new cultural projects.

The contemporary music category is the programme’s longest-running competition, dating back to the 1980s. It has since become a platform for bands and solo artists looking to introduce their music to audiences in Málaga.

Festijoven Adds More Free Performances

Eduardo Ocón Auditorium will also host further Festijoven events during September. The programme began in August and features free music and dance performances by young artists from Málaga province.

The next Festijoven concerts are scheduled for 9, 16 and 22 September at 8:00 p.m., bringing youth-focused cultural programming to the Parque de Málaga venue almost every week of the month.
