VI Benalmádena Charity Walk: a sunset hike up to Cañada del Lobo for a good cause

Walking through the hills as the sun goes down while supporting local charities is the idea behind the VI Benalmádena Charity Walk, returning on Friday 28 August 2026 with a route up towards Cañada del Lobo.

Organised by Asociación Luna Llena with support from Benalmádena Town Hall, the event will begin at 8pm from Route 1 leading up to Cañada del Lobo.

The timing means much of the walk will take place during the final hours of daylight, making it an appealing way to enjoy the natural surroundings of the Costa del Sol while contributing to two local social causes.

Hiking and solidarity at sunset

The event reaches its sixth edition this summer with a format that combines physical activity, community participation and charitable support.

Participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable food and unwanted clothing, which will be collected and donated to the association El Vuelo de las Libélulas.

This means taking part is not limited to making a financial contribution, as essential goods and clothing in good condition can also support the organisation’s work.

Charity T-shirts to support ABAD

Another initiative will be the sale of technical T-shirts for €20.

All proceeds will go to Asociación ABAD, helping support the development of its new centre.

The walk will therefore benefit two different organisations: El Vuelo de las Libélulas through food and clothing donations, and ABAD through the charity T-shirt campaign.

Telescopes, music and prize draws

The experience will continue beyond the hike itself.

The organisers have prepared several additional activities, including telescope observations, music with a DJ and prize draws.

Participants will also receive drinks and fruit, providing some refreshment after completing the route on a late-August evening.

The astronomy element fits especially well with the schedule, as darkness will gradually fall after the 8pm start.

Cañada del Lobo, nature just minutes from the coast

The event is also a chance to discover one of the natural areas in the hills immediately behind the Costa del Sol.

Cañada del Lobo is known for its walking trails, pine forests and viewpoints, offering wide views over the coastline when weather conditions are clear.

It provides a very different summer plan from the beach: exchanging the Mediterranean shoreline for mountain scenery and enjoying the landscape during one of the most pleasant parts of the day.
