30th San Pedro Alcántara Popular Race 2026

Event details

The San Pedro Alcántara Popular Race celebrates a major milestone in 2026 as it marks its 30th anniversary. The event will take place on Monday, 12 October, with hundreds of runners taking on a five-kilometre urban course along the seafront.

Organisers hope to surpass the approximately 850 participants recorded in 2025 and come close to reaching 1,000 runners for the first time. More than 750 people had already registered several days before the event.

The race is held in memory of Julio García Cruz, founder of the San Pedro Athletics Club, and maintains its inclusive and community-focused character with 17 male and female categories, as well as a category for people with disabilities and a minipeques race for young children.

The event also has a charitable side. Arama will run a bar during the event, while Luna Blanca will collect reusable trainers and sports equipment to support projects in Senegal.

Taking place shortly before the main San Pedro Alcántara festivities, the race combines sport, local participation, tradition and solidarity in one of the area’s longest-running sporting events.
