The Machine Starts Engines in Malaga
The construction of the restaurant that will replace Palocortado will begin this week with the goal of opening its doors before Easter.
La Máquina is about to start the engines of its project in Málaga. The Madrid-based hospitality chain that will replace Palocortado in the city center will begin construction this week on its first restaurant in the city. The initial intention of the entrepreneurs is to open their doors before the start of Holy Week, next April.
According to this newspaper, the work will be carried out entirely by companies from Málaga, and it will consist of a complete remodeling of the current premises on Molina Lario Street, next to the Málaga Palacio hotel. The image of the establishment will be completely changed, and several different spaces will be created. The remodeling project has been carried out by the Málaga-based company Lago Interioriza.
The work will be carried out in different phases, as initially, the premises will not be joined with another adjacent one, as was initially planned, to expedite the necessary procedures and licenses. The future restaurant will follow the same aesthetics and concept as those in Madrid, with various distinct areas to accommodate all types of customers. It will feature a large restaurant space (located where the bar used to be), a bar with high tables and chairs, and a speakeasy or clandestine bar.
The Málaga project is especially important for the entrepreneurs of La Máquina, as it will be their first experience away from Madrid. The group, founded in Madrid in 1982, has 16 restaurants open to the public of different styles, from classic to specialized in tapas or cocktails, making it one of the most important and comprehensive in the country. The chain had been looking for locations in the capital of the Costa del Sol for several years, although the lack of large premises had complicated their landing.
At the moment, the number of employees working at the new restaurant is unknown, as the group has not yet published any job offers in this regard. Generally, they offer jobs through specialized search engines and on their own networks, primarily on LinkedIn, which is aimed at a professional user.
La Máquina began its journey in March 1982 by the hand of Carlos Tejedor López, who opened a luxury Asturian restaurant in one of the main business areas in the north of the capital. More than 40 years later, the group serves two million customers a year and has a staff of more than 650 people.
The group currently includes La Máquina Original, La Máquina de la Moraleja, La Máquina Chamberi, La Máquina Jorge Juan, La Máquina Caleido, El Jardín de la Máquina, Puerta 57, Nemesio, Narcisa, La Cantina de la Estación, La Parrilla de La Máquina, Marabú, La Butiq (Moraleja), El Vagón de Goya, El Vagón de Castellana, and El Vagón de Gran Vía.
