Málaga’s Soho Christmas Concert moves to new dates: 25, 26 and 27 December

The Christmas Concert at Teatro del Soho CaixaBank has changed dates and will now take place right in the heart of the festive season. The performances will be held on 25, 26 and 27 December 2026, all at 7:00 pm, after the theatre announced that it was unable to maintain the original dates from 2 to 6 December.

The change moves one of the Soho’s main seasonal concerts to three particularly festive days: Christmas Day and the two days immediately afterwards.

The performance will feature the Larios Pop del Soho symphony orchestra, with Arturo Díez Boscovich as musical director and Antonio Banderas overseeing the artistic direction.

Three Christmas performances in Málaga

The main change concerns the schedule.

The concert had initially been planned for 2 to 6 December, but will now be concentrated into three performances:

• Friday, 25 December: 7:00 pm
• Saturday, 26 December: 7:00 pm
• Sunday, 27 December: 7:00 pm

The theatre has not publicly detailed the specific reason for the postponement, stating only that it was not possible to hold the concert on the originally announced dates.

The new schedule also changes the atmosphere surrounding the event. Rather than opening the Christmas programme at the beginning of December, the concert will now take place during some of the most festive days of the season in Málaga.

From Home Alone to White Christmas: what is on the programme?

The concert has been designed as a journey through different styles of Christmas music.

An important part of the programme is dedicated to John Williams, with music closely associated with family Christmas films.

Among the pieces are Somewhere in My Memory and Star of Bethlehem, from the soundtrack to Home Alone, as well as Christmas Star from Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

The orchestra will also perform international Christmas favourites including Sleigh Ride, A Christmas Festival Overture, White Christmas, The First Noel and The Christmas Song.

The programme also features When You Wish Upon a Star, from Pinocchio, and music from the film Hook.

The idea is to create a concert that feels familiar even to audiences who do not regularly attend symphonic performances, combining popular melodies, film scores and traditional Christmas music.

Spanish carols and original music by Arturo Díez Boscovich

The international repertoire will be combined with music closely linked to Spanish Christmas traditions.

The programme includes Noche de paz and a fantasy based on Campana sobre campana, as well as a final section designed to encourage the audience to join in with traditional Spanish Christmas carols.

There will also be several original works by Arturo Díez Boscovich.

These include Una mañana en trineo and Una visita en Nochebuena, the latter conceived as a musical story for narrator and orchestra.

Another piece included in the programme is Quién nos dirá d'una flor, by Juan Francés de Iribarren, presented as a Málaga Christmas carol and reinforcing the concert’s connection with local musical tradition.

Larios Pop del Soho returns for Christmas

The Larios Pop del Soho has become one of the orchestras most closely associated with Teatro del Soho CaixaBank.

Throughout the season, the ensemble takes part in symphonic programmes and themed concerts under the direction of Arturo Díez Boscovich, while Antonio Banderas provides artistic direction for several of the theatre’s productions.

For the Christmas concert, the format once again combines a symphony orchestra with a popular repertoire designed to appeal to audiences of different ages.

Holding the performances on 25, 26 and 27 December also reinforces the family-friendly nature of the event, making it a cultural option for anyone spending Christmas in Málaga.

What happens to tickets bought for the original dates?

Anyone who had already purchased tickets for performances scheduled between 2 and 6 December will not need to request a refund manually.

According to Teatro del Soho CaixaBank, refunds will be processed automatically through the same channel used for the original purchase.

The theatre box office is open Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm for anyone needing further information about the change.

The official Soho programme already lists the concert on its new dates, from 25 to 27 December.

A new Christmas plan in Málaga

The revised dates place the concert right in the middle of one of the busiest periods of Málaga’s festive calendar.

During Christmas, the city centre is filled with lights, cultural events, shopping and visitors. The Soho concert therefore adds another indoor cultural option for the evenings of 25, 26 and 27 December.
