Historical reenactments and folklore keep Ronda Romántica alive

Ronda Romántica has lost the essence with which it was born, to make a journey to the city of Tajo. Gone are the years when anyone not dressed in period costumes seemed an oddity in the middle of an event that truly made you imagine, albeit with some differences, what this historic city might have been like in the times of bandits, French invaders, and romantic travelers with their pompous and elegant attire.

Now, over the years, those who come dressed in clothes from the past are the exception, and the vast majority do so in modern clothing, which distorts the original spirit of the event. At this point, the participants of various historical reenactments who perform throughout the weekend save Ronda Romántica and keep it alive. They are now the real attraction of this event, and many of the attendees, especially tourists, seek to immortalize the moment.

This was the case during the first part of this Saturday morning, where their costumes have caused a sensation among the attendees. Experts at posing with a smile, they are the ones who keep an event alive that, perhaps, should refocus towards a celebration where they, along with the folk groups, take even more prominence. It's not about dying; it's about reinventing, although, perhaps, the event itself is doing it in its own way.

And indeed, even if they do not come dressed in period attire, the reenactments and various performances do manage to attract a large audience that came to Alameda del Tajo from early on despite the intense heat.

The chairs planned for the audience at the stages often fell short, and the audience remained standing watching the different reenactments that revive historical moments from that era.

Another example was the massive influx of customers to the terraces of the numerous taverns located along the walk of Alameda del Tajo next to the cliffs of the well-known Ronda chasm. This influx has continued since Friday, the day the inaugural parade took place.

Regarding the performances on stage, groups from Ronda, Grazalema, Estepona, San Fernando, or Alameda performed. Conspiracies in the Serranía, the fall of Colonel Manzanares, or the preamble of the Constitution of 1812 were some of the moments represented.
