The Goyesque ladies of Ronda, tradition and beauty, anticipate the Fair

Everything is set for the Pedro Romero Fair in Ronda to kick off this Tuesday. It will start with the official parade departing from the city center and reaching the fairgrounds located next to the ring road. Following this, a fireworks display and the lighting ceremony will mark the beginning of six days of festivities, where the absence of bullfighting events due to conservation works at the bullring will be the main novelty.

Meanwhile, on a Sunday full of pre-fair events, the goyesque ladies, dressed in their traditional outfits, have captured the attention of visitors. The photo session extended so much that even the protocol officer had to intervene to allow the tribute ceremony to Pedro Romero, the renowned bullfighter from Ronda after whom the September fair is named, to start normally.

Once the corresponding bouquet of flowers was placed at the foot of the statue commemorating him in the central promenade of the Alameda del Tajo, the official procession headed towards the beginning of Carrera Espinel among mobile phones trying to capture a memorable image. Once at the entrance, the same scenario unfolded while the official photograph was taken to the sounds of the anthems of Spain and Andalusia.

Upon inaugurating the daytime fair entrance, the City Council proceeded to officially receive the groups that participated in the international folkloric galas held this week, and afterwards, they visited the image of Ronda's patron saint, the Virgin of Peace, at the collegiate church of Santa María la Mayor.

A preview to the Ronda fair where one of the main new features is the return of the traditional carriage driving competition, though this time in its international version, which will take place over two days, Saturday and Sunday, for the development of various tests that the carriages must pass. They will also return to the inside of the bullring, albeit without an audience. This event can be followed on Sunday morning on a giant screen located in the Alameda del Tajo.

Additionally, on Friday, there will be a nod to bullfighting by the Royal Cavalry of Ronda with the awarding of their medal to the bullfighter Morante de la Puebla.

Meanwhile, at the fairgrounds, the clubs will keep the activity going all day long, especially on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, when many of the booths celebrate their traditional member lunches. Furthermore, they also give recognitions to various individuals for their social work or support of the city.
