This Friday arrives 'Grease, the musical' at the Soho Theatre: performances, dates, and tickets
From January 24 to February 16, one of the most iconic musicals lands at the Soho Theater in Málaga. The Soho Theater's January schedule: final performances of 'Gypsy' and 'Grease' arrives, tickets available.
On January 24th, the Teatro del Soho CaixaBank in Málaga will become the stage for one of the most iconic musicals in history: Grease. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, this blockbuster production lands in Spain to relive the story of Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson, one of the most beloved couples in entertainment. Directed by David Serrano and featuring a cast full of talent, with Adrián Lastra and Mia Lardner leading, Grease promises to be a vibrant show with breathtaking choreography, a legendary soundtrack, and a staging that will transport the audience to the 1950s Rydell High.
Originally premiered on Broadway in 1972 and catapulted to worldwide fame thanks to the 1978 film starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, Grease has become the quintessential feel-good musical. The love story between Danny and Sandy, the rivalries between the T-Birds and the Pink Ladies, the prom dance, and the legendary car races create a tale that has transcended generations. This new production retains all the essence of the classic but with an adaptation closer to today's youth, ensuring that audiences of all ages can relate to the characters and their experiences.
The cast of this Spanish version is led by Quique Niza as Danny Zuko and Mia Lardner as Sandy Olsson. Accompanying them will be Adrián Lastra, Isabel Pera, Marc Ribalta, Sònia Vallverdú, Miguel Millán, and a large number of artists who will bring the iconic characters of the musical to life. According to Niza himself, the adaptation of Grease has been conceived so that today's teenagers can connect with the story in a more natural and realistic way. This rejuvenated approach, combined with artistic direction that respects the essence of the original, ensures a fresh and exciting show.
The soundtrack of Grease is one of the fundamental pillars of its success. Songs like Summer Nights, Greased Lightnin', You're the One That I Want, and Hopelessly Devoted to You have marked generations and will be performed live with musical arrangements faithful to the original version. In addition, the acrobatic choreography, which has been replicated endlessly by fans of all ages, will dazzle once again in this production with unmatched energy.
