Málaga has launched a new food trail where every dish has one thing in common: it contains no animal-derived ingredients. From November 1 to 8, 2026, the first edition of La Vruta invites residents and visitors to explore restaurants across Málaga city and the surrounding province, discovering a selection of vegan tapas priced at no more than €4 each.

The initiative features 13 participating establishments across Málaga city, the Axarquía and the Costa del Sol. Their menus range from plant-based versions of traditional Málaga dishes to recipes inspired by Mexican, Peruvian, Colombian, Polish and Indian cuisine.

The organisers currently list 43 different tapas, alongside special promotions and complementary activities. Initial reports mentioned 44 dishes, although the updated catalogue on the event's official website lists 43.

The event began on Sunday, November 1, coinciding with World Vegan Day, and will continue until Sunday, November 8.

What is La Vruta and how does Málaga's vegan tapas trail work?

La Vruta is a gastronomic initiative organised by Veganxs Errantes, a local collective promoting animal-friendly consumer choices.

Over eight days, participating restaurants and businesses are offering a variety of vegan tapas specially created or selected for the occasion.

Unlike some Spanish tapas trails, where a fixed price includes both a tapa and a drink, La Vruta sets a maximum price of €4 per tapa. Drinks and additional purchases are subject to each establishment's own prices and conditions.

There is no requirement to follow a particular route or visit every restaurant. Participants can choose the dishes that interest them most and plan their visits around the available dates and opening hours.

The trail is not limited to exclusively vegan restaurants. Businesses serving mixed menus are also taking part, offering specially prepared plant-based options.

The nine Málaga city establishments taking part in La Vruta

Most of the participating businesses are located in Málaga city, with nine restaurant brands offering everything from small appetisers to international dishes.

Some operate several venues, meaning their tapas can be enjoyed at more than one location.

87 Fusión Tapas & Drinks: vegan brioche and leeks with romesco

Located at Calle Vendeja, 29, 87 Fusión Tapas & Drinks is offering two dishes for €3 each.

The first is a vegan brioche filled with hummus, aubergine, roasted courgette and fresh tomato.

The second combines leek with romesco sauce and toasted almonds, highlighting vegetables and nuts.

Both options offer an opportunity to begin the trail in Málaga's Soho district.

Andino Gastrobar: eight Latin American-inspired tapas

Andino Gastrobar has one of the largest selections on the trail.

Its special menu includes eight dishes priced between €3 and €4, inspired by different Latin American countries.

Highlights include Mexican tacos with cactus and guacamole, Colombian patacón with mushrooms, fried cassava with vegan sauce and Chilean pastel de choclo prepared with soya mince.

Other options include Peruvian-style palm heart and avocado tiradito, mushroom causa limeña and a choripán made with plant-based sausage.

Andino has three participating locations:

  • Calle Calderón de la Barca, 3.
  • Calle Tomás Echeverría, 5, in Huelin.
  • Plaza de los Mártires Ciriaco y Paula, 12.

El Rincón de Flor: international dishes and vegan desserts

El Rincón de Flor, at Calle Canchal, 16, is offering five dishes priced at €4 each.

Its special menu includes a vegan Russian salad and falafel roll, a salad with homemade tofu-based feta and two Salvadoran pupusas filled with smoked tofu and beans.

There is also a crispy pastry inspired by Romanian and Tatar cuisine, alongside a Romanian savarin with plant-based cream and red berries.

The range allows visitors to enjoy both savoury dishes and desserts at the same stop.

Estación Quimera: eleven vegan tapas, available only on November 6 and 7

One of the most extensive menus is offered by Estación Quimera, located at Calle Trafalgar, 8.

The restaurant will serve eleven different tapas, although its participation is limited to Friday, November 6, and Saturday, November 7.

Its dishes include vegan Russian salad, mushrooms cooked al pilpil, croquettes, Moorish-style seitan skewers, meat-free balls in sauce and various plant-based interpretations of traditional Spanish favourites.

Other highlights include boquerones de montaña, made with roasted and seasoned aubergine, and a vegan version of lomo en manteca, a traditional Andalusian pork dish.

Prices range from €3.50 to €4.

La Caravana: homemade cashew-based vegan cheese

At Calle José Denis Belgrano, 25, La Caravana is participating with a dish centred on fermented plant-based ingredients.

Its special tapa consists of homemade vegan cream cheese made from cashews, priced at €4.

The organisers indicate that the recipe does not contain gluten among its listed ingredients. However, anyone with allergies or intolerances should confirm preparation methods and possible cross-contamination directly with the restaurant.

La Vegana Tapería: gyozas, Tex-Mex mince and lentil dhal

La Vegana Tapería, located at Calle San Juan de Letrán, 13, is offering three dishes.

Visitors can try fried vegetable gyozas with soy sauce for €3.50, alongside a Tex-Mex mince made with plant-based protein, vegan cheese and corn tortilla chips for the same price.

The third option is a lentil dhal served with basmati rice, available for €4.

Mezcal Gastrobar Mexicano: vegan tacos from €3

Mexican food lovers will find five dishes at Mezcal Gastrobar Mexicano, all priced at €3.

The menu includes tacos with cactus, vegetables and vegan chorizo, as well as black bean tostadas and tortilla chips with guacamole.

Three Mezcal locations in Málaga are participating:

  • Calle Moreno Monroy, 7.
  • Calle Santa Lucía, 10.
  • Calle Compañía, 36.

Málaga Vegana: Lotus biscuit pastry for €3.50

Sweet treats also have a place on La Vruta.

Málaga Vegana, located at Avenida Doctor Gálvez Ginachero, 27, is offering a puff pastry palmier topped with Lotus biscuit spread and crushed biscuit pieces.

The price is €3.50.

The dessert provides another option for visitors who would like to finish their tapas outing with something sweet.

Rúkula Vegan Food: plant-based meatballs in tomato sauce

At Avenida del Arroyo de los Ángeles, 8, Rúkula Vegan Food is serving plant-based meatballs accompanied by tomato sauce and bread.

The dish costs €4.

It is one of the trail's interpretations of a familiar home-style recipe using entirely plant-based ingredients.

The vegan tapas trail also reaches Rincón de la Victoria and Nerja

Although Málaga city has the largest concentration of participants, La Vruta also provides an opportunity to explore restaurants in the Axarquía.

Three establishments in the area are taking part.

El Boliche, Rincón de la Victoria

El Boliche, located at Paseo Marítimo Virgen del Carmen, 208, is offering an Andalusian-style samosa accompanied by ajoblanco and almonds.

The dish combines a traditional South Asian preparation with ingredients associated with Málaga's culinary heritage.

It costs €4.

Estamos Sembrados, Nerja

At Calle Almirante Ferrándiz, 124, Estamos Sembrados is offering three tapas inspired by Central European cuisine.

Visitors can sample pierogi filled with tofu, potatoes and onion; crispy pastries with plant-based pâté, sauerkraut and mushrooms; and a marinated oyster mushroom dish inspired by traditional herring preparations.

All three dishes cost €4.

Zurca Mercado Natural, Rincón de la Victoria

Zurca Mercado Natural, located at Avenida del Mediterráneo, 119, is participating with a sweet option.

Its VrutalCookies by CeliAli are biscuits made with plant-based ingredients, vanilla and chocolate chips.

They cost €3.50.

Marbella joins La Vruta with AquaViento WaterWind

The western Costa del Sol is represented in the first edition by AquaViento WaterWind, located in the Elviria area of Marbella.

Its dish consists of onion, kale and pumpkin bhajis, inspired by the spiced fritters commonly found in Indian cuisine.

The tapa is priced at €4.

However, the establishment will only participate on Saturday, November 7, from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm.

Visitors interested in trying this particular dish should plan their visit within that specific time window.

How much do La Vruta 2026 tapas cost?

One of the main features of the trail is its pricing policy.

None of the advertised tapas costs more than €4, with some dishes available from just €3.

Prices vary depending on the recipe and establishment.

Special discounts and additional activities during the trail

La Vruta is not limited to restaurants.

The organisers have brought together six collaborating businesses and organisations, participating through promotions, special products, activities and support for the initiative.

Among the offers announced are 15% discounts on nail services and facial treatments at Akasha Vegan Beauty, alongside a 10% reduction on services and products at Ana Pino Salón Vegano.

Zurca Mercado Natural is also offering promotions on chilled and frozen vegan products, with discounts of up to 20%, as well as a prize draw involving its products.

Other collaborators include CeliAli Gluten Free, Veganería del Sur and El Faro LGBTIQ+.

The conditions and availability of each promotion may differ from those of the main tapas trail, so visitors should check them individually.

Autumn vegan cooking workshop on November 4

One of the main additional activities is an autumn vegan cooking workshop, organised by Veganería del Sur.

The session will take place on Wednesday, November 4, at 7 pm.

The advertised price is €35 per participant, with €5 from each fee going to Animal View.

Anyone interested can find further information and participation conditions through La Vruta's official events programme.

Who organises La Vruta? Meet Veganxs Errantes

The initiative is organised by Veganxs Errantes, a collective that develops activities promoting and raising awareness of veganism across Málaga province.

Its members were involved in organising the provincial editions of VeggieVuelta in 2024 and 2025.

Although La Vruta is making its debut under its own identity this year, the organisers explain that this is the fifth vegan tapas trail to take place in Málaga within the wider history of these initiatives.

The collective operates on a voluntary, non-profit basis.

The new event aims to highlight restaurants and businesses offering alternatives free from animal-derived ingredients, while introducing these recipes to people who do not necessarily follow a vegan diet.

How to find participating restaurants, opening hours and tapas

To make planning easier, the organisers have created a dedicated website with information about participating establishments.

Visitors can find addresses, dishes, prices and opening days.

The platform also includes a route planner, allowing users to select a date and the venues they would like to visit.

This is particularly useful because not every participating business is offering its promotional dishes throughout all eight days.

For example, Estación Quimera is only participating on November 6 and 7, while AquaViento WaterWind is available exclusively on Saturday, November 7.

Official website: https://lavruta.es/

Participating restaurants and tapas: https://lavruta.es/locales

Route planner: https://lavruta.es/mapa

The organisers recommend checking each establishment's opening hours before visiting, as schedules may change during the event.
