Latin Night in La Cala de Mijas: Cuban and Caribbean music by the sea on 26 August
Plaza del Torreón will host a new evening of live Latin music on Wednesday 26 August, with performances by Savia Viva and Nayza y Kafekonlé from 9pm.
Summer nights in La Cala de Mijas will once again be filled with music on Wednesday 26 August 2026, when Plaza del Torreón hosts a new Latin Night dedicated to the sounds of Cuba, Latin America and the Caribbean.
The event will begin at 9pm and will be open to the public, offering another option for anyone looking for an evening plan after a day at the beach or a chance to enjoy the final nights of August on the Costa del Sol.
The programme will feature Savia Viva and Nayza y Kafekonlé, bringing a range of Latin rhythms to one of La Cala’s most recognisable outdoor spaces.
Savia Viva brings traditional Cuban sounds to Mijas
One of the main performances will come from Savia Viva, a project led by Cuban singer Iliana Labrada.
Its repertoire draws on traditional Cuban and Caribbean music, including styles such as trova, habaneras and son, creating a show closely connected to the musical roots of Cuba.
The performance will be followed by Nayza y Kafekonlé, completing an evening designed to showcase different expressions of Latin music.
A summer evening in Plaza del Torreón
The setting is another of the event’s attractions.
Plaza del Torreón, close to the seafront and beach in La Cala de Mijas, regularly hosts concerts and cultural activities during the summer months.
Its location also makes it easy to combine the event with dinner at one of the area’s restaurants, a walk along the promenade or drinks on a nearby terrace before or after the performances.
The initiative forms part of Mijas Town Hall’s summer programme, aimed at expanding the municipality’s evening entertainment while encouraging both residents and visitors to discover La Cala after sunset.
Music and culture beyond the beach
During July and August, much of La Cala’s activity naturally revolves around the coastline. Events such as Latin Night provide another reason to stay out once the sun goes down.
The programme complements some of Mijas’ main attractions — beaches, gastronomy and local heritage — with free cultural and musical experiences in public spaces.
