The Champions Cheesecake arrives in Mijas: dates, opening times, prices and the cheesecakes you can try
The Las Lagunas Fairground has become a must-visit stop for cheesecake lovers until 6 September, with flavours ranging from pistachio and Kinder Bueno to piña colada, Ositos Lulú and Parmigiano Reggiano. Entry is free.
Burgers are not the only attraction in Las Lagunas de Mijas this summer. Since Thursday 20 August 2026, the fairground has also been hosting The Champions Cheesecake, a food event entirely dedicated to one of the most popular desserts of recent years: cheesecake.
The event will remain open until Sunday 6 September and shares the same venue and dates as The Champions Burger, allowing visitors to combine some of the competition’s burgers with a wide range of cheesecakes.
Entry to the venue is completely free, with visitors paying only for the food they choose to order.
When is The Champions Cheesecake in Mijas?
The Champions Cheesecake opened in Mijas on 20 August and will remain in town for just over two weeks.
Opening times vary depending on the day:
- Monday to Thursday: 6pm to midnight.
- Friday to Sunday: 12pm to midnight.
- Final day: Sunday 6 September.
- Location: Las Lagunas Fairground, Mijas.
- Entry: free.
The extended weekend hours make it possible to visit for lunch, dinner or simply to stop by for dessert during the afternoon.
From Ositos Lulú to piña colada: cheesecakes designed to surprise
Anyone expecting only a traditional baked cheesecake will find plenty of alternatives.
The Champions Cheesecake reinterprets the classic recipe with popular flavours, unusual combinations and ingredients that often tap into childhood nostalgia.
Among the more eye-catching options is the Ositos Lulú cheesecake, inspired by the well-known biscuits, as well as a piña colada version combining pineapple and coconut.
There are also more traditional recipes for those who prefer the flavour of the cheese itself to remain the main focus.
Happy Hippo, Weikis and a surprising parmesan cheesecake
Some recipes appear to be aimed directly at anyone who grew up with certain snacks and sweets.
These include a Happy Hippo cheesecake, built around milk and hazelnut flavours, and a version inspired by Weikis, combining chocolate with notes reminiscent of sweet milk brioche.
One of the most unusual options, however, is the Parmesan cheesecake by Che Ragazzi.
Made with Italian cheeses and Parmigiano Reggiano, it offers a stronger and less conventionally sweet flavour than many of the other creations.
Lotus, brownie and pistachio for fans of modern cheesecake classics
The menu also includes several combinations that have become increasingly common in cafés and bakeries.
The Lotus cheesecake combines creamy cheese filling with the caramelised flavour of the famous biscuits.
The brownie version adds an American-style brownie base, while the pistachio cheesecake includes white chocolate, pistachio cream and natural pistachios.
These may be less unusual than some of the candy-inspired recipes, but they are likely to be among the most familiar choices for cheesecake fans.
Kinder Bueno, TostaRica and Filipinos also get the cheesecake treatment
The menu continues with several options designed for anyone with a serious sweet tooth.
The Kinder Bueno cheesecake combines a biscuit base with white hazelnut cream, nuts and pieces of chocolate.
There is also a TostaRica and white Nocilla version, transforming another familiar biscuit into a cheesecake flavour.
Another creation combines salted caramel with white chocolate Filipinos, while a Dinosaurus biscuit cheesecake adds yet another nostalgic option.
Nesquik, Petit Suisse and custard flavours
Childhood memories are a recurring theme across the menu.
The Nesquik cheesecake combines chocolate cheesecake with the familiar cocoa powder.
The Petit Suisse version features strawberry flavour and pink candyfloss, while the custard cheesecake turns the traditional dessert into a creamy, caramelised variation.
The result is a menu where classic recipes sit alongside creations clearly designed to stand out on social media.
How much does a slice cost?
There is no single fixed price for every cheesecake.
According to the organisers, individual portions generally cost between €6 and €11.
The final price depends on the bakery, the size of the slice, the ingredients, toppings and any special editions or promotions.
This means two different cheesecakes may have different prices even though they are sold within the same event.
There is no winner: The Champions Cheesecake is not a competition
There is one important difference compared with The Champions Burger.
At the burger competition, visitors taste the different entries and vote to decide which burgers reach the podium. The Champions Cheesecake, however, does not operate as a competition.
There is no public vote and no final ranking.
The idea is simply to bring together different bakers and recipes so visitors can explore different ways of making cheesecake.
Important: cash is not accepted directly at the stalls
There is one practical detail worth knowing before visiting.
The stalls do not accept direct cash payments.
Visitors carrying only cash can go to the information point, where they can exchange it for a prepaid card.
The card requires a €1 deposit, which can be refunded along with any unused balance.
However, refunds must be requested in person at the information point before the event ends.
How to get to The Champions Cheesecake in Mijas
The event takes place at the Las Lagunas Fairground, one of the municipality’s main venues for large events.
Public transport is also an option, with bus routes M-127, M-222 and M-223 stopping close to the venue.
For visitors arriving by car, the organisers indicate that there are also parking areas nearby, including free public parking.
Burgers and cheesecake in the same venue
Sharing the venue with The Champions Burger makes Las Lagunas one of the Costa del Sol’s main food destinations over the next few weeks.
The burger competition features 17 participants this year within a new American football-inspired theme called The Big Game.
The Champions Cheesecake provides the sweet side of the experience, although it operates independently and without a competition.
That makes it easy to plan a complete visit: try one of the participating burgers and finish with one or more cheesecake flavours.
