Summer Plans in Fuengirola: These are the activities offered by the municipality for the summer season

As temperatures rise and the imminent start of vacation for the little ones approaches, Fuengirola is gearing up for the summer with a wide variety of activities for its citizens. The Youth Department of the Fuengirola City Council, coordinated by councilor Isaac Vargas, has announced a range of summer camps aimed at young people aged 9 to 13 years. This summer season, there will be two free options available for Fuengirola residents of these ages: a Science camp to be held in July at the Colores building; and a Technology camp, scheduled for August at the same municipal facilities. In both cases, pre-registration must be done through the Citizen Card starting May 29 at 8:00 PM. "From the Youth Council, we are starting to present our summer program beginning with the camps that we organize each year at the Colores building in July and August," explained Vargas, noting that "this time, there will be a Science camp that will run in two shifts during July and a Technology camp, which will also be divided into two shifts, but will be held during August." The Science camp will take place throughout July at the Colores building, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and will consist of two shifts: from July 1 to 15; and from July 20 to 31. Students in the first shift will learn concepts related to life on our planet, while the theme of the second shift will revolve around the forces that govern our planet. In August, the Colores building will host Fuengirola Techcamp, a proposal to learn programming, digital art, and 3D modeling, which will also include a gaming area and video game tournaments. It will be held in two shifts from August 3 to 14 and from August 17 to 28, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Pre-registration for both camps is already available and must be done through the Citizen Card. Furthermore, the Fuengirola City Council has organized a dozen cultural activities in June for all audiences. The municipal program, designed by the Department of Culture, includes concerts, exhibitions, archaeology workshops, the 25th Festival of Children's Humor and Magic 'Jajejijojú' and the 32nd Model Contest, among other proposals announced by Councilor Rodrigo Romero. Romero detailed the program, reminding that until June 28, the ARTS exhibition from the municipal visual arts workshops at the House of Culture will be open to the public. It can be visited for free from Tuesday to Friday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Also open to the public at the House of Culture will be the LGTIQ+ artists' collective exhibition 'Let's Fest' as part of the Fulanita Fest festival. It can be visited until June 5, from Monday to Friday from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM and from 4:30 PM to 10:00 PM. This exhibition will be followed at the House of Culture by the painting exhibition 'Open Your Mind' by Wolfgang Durán, which will open on June 12. Regarding the musical offer, jazz will be one of the highlights of the June program, which includes three dates with Jazz Nights on the Rooftop of the City Hall: the free show, 'Typing the Mystery. Jazz and Poetry under the Stars', with Masha Ocean Quartet and the poet Álvaro Galán Castro, on June 4; Lailat Iman Quartet, with Imane Herradi, Oliver Sierra, Agustín Carrillo, and J. Manuel Lucas, on June 11; and the recital 'Spaces' by Nacho Loring Quintet, on June 25. Invitations for the first concert and tickets for the following two, priced at 5 euros, can be obtained by accessing the website https://entradas.fuengirola.es, or in person at the information point of the Miramar Shopping Center. Additionally, the musical offer also includes a concert from the Community Concerts series by Iberian Sinfonieta, which on this occasion will offer a recital accompanied on piano by Zhiquiao Zhang. The event will be on June 13 at 7:00 PM at the Palacio de la Paz with free admission until full capacity is reached. Additionally, the Fuengirola Municipal Music Band will also be a protagonist of the June program with its first summer concert in Spain Park. It will be on June 30 starting at 9:00 PM. A classic event in the cultural programming of June is the end-of-course exhibition of the classical ballet workshop of the House of Culture, which this year will offer the show 'Dances of Don Quixote' on June 5, at 8:00 PM at the Palacio de la Paz, with free admission until full capacity is reached. Archaeology workshops will continue during the summer, and from June 30 to July 3, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, sessions for children aged 6 to 14 years will be offered at the Finca del Secretario. The program includes two special events: The Festival of Children's Humor and Magic 'Jajejijojú' and the 32nd Model Contest 'Fuengirola un sol de ciudad'. The 'Jajejijojú' festival, benefiting AVOI, will be held on June 6, starting at 6:00 PM, and its tickets can be purchased for 10 euros on the website https://entradium.com. On the other hand, the 32nd edition of the Model Contest 'Fuengirola un sol de ciudad', dedicated to cinema and series, will take place on June 20 and 21 at the Palacio de la Paz. The entrance will be free and the visiting hours will be from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM on Saturday 20, while on Sunday 21 it will be open from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
