It's no coincidence: these are the four beaches that have made Torremolinos one of Malaga's top destinations

There are municipalities where summer is only experienced on the sand, and others where the coast becomes part of the city's own identity. In Torremolinos, the beaches not only shape the landscape of the Costa del Sol, but they also explain much of its tourist history, urban transformation, and its capacity to remain one of the most recognizable destinations on the Malaga coast. This 2026, the municipality has strengthened that position after achieving the Blue Flag status for its four major beaches, a recognition that certifies quality, sustainability, safety, and services.

The update made by the European Foundation for Environmental Education has allowed Torremolinos to consolidate itself as another of the municipalities in Malaga —alongside Fuengirola— with its entire coastline distinguished with the Blue Flag. Bajondillo, Los Álamos, La Carihuela, and Playamar thus form a coastal ensemble that summarizes different ways of understanding the Mediterranean: from historic fishing districts to cosmopolitan leisure areas and extensive urban beaches.

Bajondillo Beach

Bajondillo Beach occupies a strategic position within the coast of Torremolinos. Located between La Carihuela and Playamar, this coastal stretch exceeds one kilometer in length and reaches about 40 meters in width, establishing itself as one of the most frequented urban beaches in the municipality.

Its proximity to the center makes Bajondillo one of the most traveled areas by both residents and visitors. The environment includes extensive tourist infrastructure and services, with dining areas, hammocks, showers, and various spaces oriented towards seaside leisure.

The beach maintains a direct connection with the promenade and some of the main urban accesses of Torremolinos, forming a classic image of the Costa del Sol where beach tourism and everyday life coexist constantly.

Los Álamos

At the western end of the municipality, bordering the capital city of Malaga, lies Los Álamos Beach. With more than one and a half kilometers in length and about 60 meters in width, this enclave stands out as one of the most spacious and modern beaches on the Torremolinos coast.

The beach features fine, golden sand and a profile clearly associated with leisure and contemporary tourist activity. Throughout the year, it maintains a significant influx of visitors attracted by its spaciousness and an offer linked both to sports and entertainment.

In Los Álamos, water activities, highly frequented promenades, and beach clubs have made this area one of the most active points on the Costa del Sol, especially during the summer season and summer nights.

The environment also reflects the cosmopolitan character that Torremolinos has acquired over the last decades, with a diverse tourist profile and an offer adapted to different audiences.

La Carihuela

Speaking of Torremolinos inevitably involves mentioning La Carihuela. Its two kilometers of coastline and its historic fishing district represent one of the most recognizable images of the Costa del Sol.

Despite the tourist evolution of the municipality, La Carihuela retains part of the essence of that old fishermen's core that marked the development of the town. The low houses, narrow streets, and the maritime atmosphere continue to be part of this enclave, where traditional gastronomy occupies a central place.

The promenade concentrates intense commercial and hospitality activity, with a constant presence of restaurants, shops, and beach bars where fried fish continues to be one of the main culinary protagonists of the Malaga coast.

Playamar

Playamar completes the set of beaches distinguished with the Blue Flag in Torremolinos. With a kilometer in length and about 50 meters in width, this beach is characterized by a dynamic profile where relaxation, sports activity, and urban tourism coexist.

Its proximity to the center facilitates access both on foot and by vehicle, making it one of the most comfortable and functional coastal areas in the municipality. The beach has numerous tourist services and a wide range of hotels, restaurants, and leisure establishments.

Sports also play an important role in the environment of Playamar, where activities such as beach volleyball or windsurfing are common. All this configures a versatile coastal space that reflects the tourist model developed by Torremolinos in recent decades.
