Rincón de la Victoria, in collaboration with the Red Cross, offers a course in lifeguarding and basic life support.

The Rincón de la Victoria City Council, in collaboration with Red Cross, has launched a course on aquatic lifeguarding and basic life support starting on February 21st. The council, in a statement, detailed that this training action is aimed at youth aged 18 to 29 years old.

The objective of this course, according to Nacho Cuadra, Councilor for Training, Employment, and Youth, is to improve the employability of young people by obtaining a professional qualification with "high labor demand," emphasizing the summer season, as it is the peak time for beaches and pools, where the role of the lifeguard is, according to them, "essential."

Classes will be offered to all young people who wish to participate at the local Red Cross Assembly headquarters, located at Limoneros street, number 6, and will be held on various dates. The first ones will be on February 21 and 22; subsequently, between February 28 and March 1; and finally, between March 7 and 8.

For his part, Francisco Salado, mayor of the municipality, has indicated that "these types of initiatives favor labor insertion in sectors with high employability and contribute to the professional training of our youth."

The requirements to access this course

The program combines theoretical and practical training, equipping students to intervene in aquatic emergency situations, apply rescue techniques, and perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) maneuvers, as well as the use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

To access this training, it is necessary to be unemployed and registered in the National System of Youth Guarantee. Additionally, the training action is specifically directed at individuals belonging to the Social Exclusion Risk (REX) group. It will be essential to prove this by using code 40 at the employment office, a certificate of social vulnerability, and a report on the situation or risk of social exclusion issued by the competent social services.

This is the first free hybrid training action of this year under the Red Cross Employment Plan, within the 'Comprehensive Employment Access Itineraries' project, funded by European funds and with the support and co-financing of the Rincón de la Victoria City Council.
