Rincón de la Victoria has kicked off the fair calendar in 2026. The first one, as every year, will be in honor of Our Lady of Candelaria, which will take place in Torre de Benagalbón from Thursday, January 29 to Monday, February 2, coinciding with the patron saint's day. This year's program, according to Paz Couto, Councilor for Fairs and Festivities, will feature over 50 activities with broad participation from local groups, artists from the municipality, traditional games, musical performances, including the group Triana, Tamara Jerez, and Mecamela, among other children's events and religious acts.

The mayor of Rincón de la Victoria, Francisco Salado, highlighted that “the Candelaria Fair is one of our most beloved celebrations, a showcase of affection, tradition, and the welcoming spirit of Benagalbón.” He pointed this out during the presentation of the poster and the program of activities.

Salado emphasized the "fundamental" role of the stewards and stewardesses of Benagalbón, "who are the true protagonists of these festivities alongside the Virgin of Candelaria and the residents of Rincón de la Victoria." Following this, he also highlighted the role played by the residents themselves throughout the year "to ensure that no detail is missed in the festivities."

The Importance of the Candelaria Fair

The mayor also valued the fair as a meeting and reunion point, noting that “fairs are moments of fun, relaxation, and reunion. Many people return to Benagalbón after years away, and those who come for the first time have an unforgettable experience that makes them come back.” In this regard, he indicated that the Candelaria Fair “builds loyalty among those who visit our municipality”.

He also highlighted the dynamic role of the stewards throughout the year, stating that “they have ensured that Benagalbón maintains a permanent festive spirit, organizing activities that are now part of the cultural and social calendar of the municipality.” “When there is a festival in Benagalbón, everyone knows it is a guarantee of fun, hospitality, and a good atmosphere,” he added.

Part of the Candelaria Fair Program

The fair will officially begin with the proclamation, which will be held on Friday, January 23 at 8:00 PM at the Church of Our Lady of Candelaria. This year, it will be led by the Brother Bike Cycling Club, mostly made up of residents of Benagalbón. At the same event, the promotional poster, a work by photographer Nico Canela, will be unveiled, featuring a traditional image that highlights the beauty of the patroness.

The first of the scheduled activities will begin with the traditional senior's lunch on Thursday, January 29, which will be enlivened by the performance of the castanets group with Rocío Borrezo and the women of Benagalbón, as well as José Ortíz. "The entire first day will be dedicated to our seniors in a very special way," said Couto.

Subsequently, the City Council of Rincón de la Victoria has highlighted the procession of Our Lady of Candelaria and Saint Joseph, which will take place on January 30 and February 2 at 7:00 PM through the streets of Torre de Benagalbón. Lastly, the spokesperson for the group of stewards, Sandra Carnero, thanked “the support of the City Council of Rincón de la Victoria, as well as the companies and collaborators,” highlighting “the family nature of these festivities, in a healthy environment, reminiscent of the festivals of yesteryear.”
