Sexy Sadie Announces a Comeback

The well-known indie band Sexy Sadie will make "a fleeting comeback" more than 20 years later after becoming one of the most famous bands in the country. They will do so with a concert on Saturday, March 8 at the Port of Benalmádena as part of 'Sexy Sadie's Day'.

This was announced by The Borderline Music, which through a press release, states that the band from Mallorca will offer a unique concert in Andalusia, perfectly topping off the launch of 'Found in Málaga - Sexy Sadie / Lost & Found 20th Anniversary', an album where twelve bands from Málaga pay tribute to them by covering some of their greatest hits.

Indeed, that band that passionately loved Anglo-Saxon rock, confidently singing in English and not envying native foreign groups, published in 2003 their fifth album, 'Lost & Found' (Subterfuge Records), reaching creative maturity with this work. Now, 22 years later, and after several years away from the music scene, twelve bands from Málaga claim their enormous legacy.

To celebrate this release, the Port of Benalmádena will organize 'Sexy Sadie's Day' on March 8, a mini-festival dedicated to one of the foundational bands of national indie music. The event will start at 1 PM with a 'brunch' reminiscent of the nineties, animated by 90Roll. From 4 PM, six of the participating bands in the album will play some of the album's songs along with the best of their own repertoire. This way, a day full of concerts can be enjoyed for free.

The afternoon will kick off with a performance by Los Turistas, a group that has adapted the power pop 'I won't hurt you' ('No hacerte daño'), translating the original lyrics of Sexy Sadie into Spanish and imprinting their own stamp.

They will be followed by WasabiCru, who with 'A scratch in my skin' cover a sophisticated song, more R&B, with very suggestive rhythm changes. After them, the band Bauer, also performing the song 'Always drunk' in Spanish, opting for electronic arrangements and a Beatles nod to intensify a chorus where guitars are prominent.

Scandinavia will take over with songs like 'Take from me', a song they have made explode in the best sense of the word. Next up will be El País Musicano. With the sweet voice of Álvaro at the forefront, they will offer their adaptation of 'Forever is longer than the universe itself', including a gospel touch. And the local bands' set will conclude with Rubio Americano, performing 'I Do', executed from an art rock perspective with outstanding rhythmic subtlety.

And, finally, to close this musical circle, the big moment, the most awaited: the return for one day, a few hours, of Sexy Sadie to a stage, a reunion to thank the audience and these twelve bands for the tribute received and to give the audience an unrepeatable concert, unique in Andalusia.

Sexy Sadie's Day will be an extraordinary occasion, in every sense of the word, to see and hear again one of the canonical groups of Spanish alternative pop. They, along with other bands like Australian Blonde, Los Planetas, Dover or El Niño Gusano, were inspirational and laid the foundations for the subsequent and significant explosion of indie.

The long and brilliant shadow of those from Mallorca reaches our days. The tribute album and this event at the Port of Benalmádena are palpable proof of that. 'Sexy Sadie's Day' is an event framed in the initiative 'Rumbo al Puerto 2025', a plan to invigorate the marina of the coastal city aiming to transform the port complex every weekend, until April, into a celebration, attracting visitors and creating an environment that connects businesses and associates with new audiences.
