Estepona Authorizes 383 Licenses for New Establishments in Two Years

The City Council of Estepona has authorized a total of 383 opening licenses for establishments in the last two years, registering a 10% increase in the granting of these permits in 2024 compared to the previous year, as reported this Friday by the Councilor for Commerce, Cristina Cintrano.

Thus, the councilor highlighted that “the growth of the productive fabric continues to rise” and noted that “the municipal projects developed to enhance the city have managed to boost the local economy and create a strong economic fabric.”

Cintrano pointed out that in 2024 there was “an increase in the number of licenses by 10%, with a total of 202, while in 2023 a total of 181 new opening licenses were granted”.

The councilor emphasized that “a new business was opened every day and a half in the town during 2024, while those that have been operating in the town for some time continue to consolidate.” “These data highlight the increase in economic activity and the focus of attraction that the city is becoming in recent years,” she added.

Of those 383 licenses granted, 274 correspond to new businesses that have been established in the city; while there have been 109 changes of ownership of establishments in the last two years.

Processed Cases

According to her, the Commerce and Industry delegation is responsible, in addition to processing new licenses, for other important aspects for the city, having processed more than 800 cases during the past year.

Thus, more than a hundred authorizations for the occupation of public roads, 50 for market stalls, more than thirty for the celebration of shows, or about twenty filming permits in the city, among others, were processed.

The municipal official emphasized the effort of the City Council to avoid obstacles that may delay the start-up of projects. Among the measures that have been adopted, she highlights “the elimination of the opening fee payment for commercial activities classified as harmless, totaling 157 in the last two years.”

In addition, she added “a 75% discount on the cost of the business opening license fee for groups that are in a situation of greater vulnerability,” which can be accessed by various groups such as women victims of gender violence, the long-term unemployed, or young people under 30, among others.

To provide greater facilities, interested parties can carry out all the necessary procedures for opening a new establishment through the electronic office. On this platform, they can also manage appointments with the different municipal departments.
