Melody, brand new representative at Eurovision: more than a decade based in Malaga and with a spectacular villa on the Costa del Sol
The Sevillian artist lives in Fuengirola with Ignacio Batallán, a professional volleyball player and personal trainer.
Melody is currently a prominent name in Spanish pop music after winning the Benidorm Festival this Saturday and becoming Spain's next representative at Eurovision. The singer became very popular as a child with her album 'De pata negra', which included the famous 'El baile del gorila'. She was only 10 years old at the time and since then, both her career and personal life have evolved significantly. In this evolution, Malaga has played an important role as the artist's place of residence in recent years, where she has started a family and given a new boost to her career.
Melodía Ruiz Gutiérrez, known artistically as Melody, was born in Dos Hermanas (Seville) in 1990. Coming from a family of artists, she began singing and dancing at a very young age. She also studied guitar, piano, and acting, and success came early, supported by El Fary, who was captivated by the talent of the young woman from Seville. Melody did not want to remain in the role of a 'child star'—she was number one in more than 15 countries and sold more than a million copies—and has managed to carve out a career with six studio albums, tours around the world, appearances on TV shows like 'Tu cara me suena', and even debuting as an actress in series and a movie.
But few know that the artist, very protective of her personal life, is half Malagueña because she has been living in the province for over a decade. In fact, she has started her family in Malaga lands. In 2024, Melody gave birth to Cairo, her first child, fruit of her relationship with Ignacio Batallán, an Argentine model and volleyball player. The couple settled in Fuengirola and from the Costa del Sol they have made their life together. Ignacio Batallán is a personal trainer at a gym he owns in the Malaga locality—where he met his current partner—and he is also the head of Club Voleibol Fuengirola.
Melody and Ignacio live in an impressive two-story villa on the Costa del Sol. Little is known about the house, although in some social media posts the singer has shared some details of her home. It is a two-story family house, with high walls and a lot of privacy. It has a large outdoor area with gardens and a swimming pool, with Balinese beds and an interior with minimalist decor but spacious rooms.
She likes Malaga so much that last year she even participated in the narration of the Christmas lights on Larios Street in front of the cameras of Canal Málaga, the municipal television. There she confessed that she has been living in the province for years. "Malaga is a place that is already in my heart, I have my family here, I feel so good here...", she declared then.
