Torremolinos Pride celebrates its tenth anniversary, and the City Council plans to celebrate it in a big way, with an extensive program starting on May 16 and extending until mid-June, with the main events taking place from June 4 to 7. One of the most special moments of this event is the opening speech, scheduled for Thursday, June 5, which this year will be delivered by Supremme Deluxe, host of Drag Race, where Torremolinos has been prominently featured with the participation of drag queen Kelly Roller. Journalist Iván Gelibter will host the activities from Thursday to Saturday, joined on Thursday by Xenon Spain, on Friday by queer educator and activist Estupenda Márquez, and on Saturday by Sharonne, who will also be a guest artist that day. Regina will also be on stage every day, responsible for translating the most important presentations for the international audience. Ladilla Rusa, Merche, Salma, Sonia and Selena, Álvaro Mayo, and Melody, this year's representative for Spain in Eurovision, will be some of the star performances at the X Pride of Torremolinos. Local artists and drags such as Satín Greco, Kelly Roller, Alma de Soul, Pinkchadora, Lara Sajen, or La Prohibida will also perform. The program will include a wide variety of activities such as the official preview of the short film 'Equipo', a beach volleyball tournament, sports activities, workshops, cinema, exhibitions, concerts, children's and family games, the presentation of the book 'CHEMSEX. Consequences on HIV infection and other health aspects', by Daniel Íncera, the VII Proud Pets Contest, or the VIII High Heel Race, among many others. Another major event each year is the parade, which will take place on Saturday, June 7 at 5:00 PM, starting from the City Hall and ending at the Pablo Ruiz Picasso Cultural Center, where a manifesto will be read. "In these ten years, we have made many strides, you have claimed and conquered goals of freedom and respect; but we must continue to build a future in colors and diversity," stated the Mayor of Torremolinos, Margarita del Cid (PP) during the event presentation. The mayor highlighted the work done by associations, beyond Pride, such as Apoyo Positivo, Colega Torremolinos, the Andalucía Diversidad Federation, Colegandalus, and Acogat, who will speak on Saturday after the manifesto reading. This edition's poster was created by Lucía Types, "which encompasses all the identities of the diverse community, from love, joy, and advocacy. Not a single acronym is missing there, and there is no reason not to continue celebrating all identities, building a future in colors," declared the mayor. Poster artist Lucía Types explained that her idea was "to represent the colorful Torremolinos we have all year round. I would like to highlight the need to represent people as we want them to be, included everywhere, a diverse, happy society, in this case celebrating, although there is still much work to be done." Torremolinos Pride is also inclusive and will feature sign language interpretation during the most important moments, such as the opening speech and the manifesto, and spaces for people with reduced mobility or special needs on party days and during the parade. Additionally, this year it will feature the only survivor of the legendary Stonewall raid in New York. Torremolinos Pride will attend Europride in Lisbon and even World Pride in Washington, "where we will have a stand with the help of Turespaña," explained Nacho Martínez, president of the Torremolinos Gay Merchants Association (Acogat).
