Shopping

Christmas will arrive in central Fuengirola with the return of the town’s traditional Christmas Market, one of the most popular shopping and festive events in its seasonal calendar.

The market will take over Plaza de la Constitución from Thursday, 26 November until Sunday, 20 December 2026. For more than three weeks, residents and visitors will be able to explore its wooden cabins and shop for gifts, decorations and products connected with the festive season.

Its central location, close to Fuengirola’s main shopping streets, makes it easy to combine a visit with Christmas shopping, a walk around the town centre or a stop at one of the surrounding cafés and restaurants.

A Christmas village with 17 wooden cabins

The Fuengirola Christmas Market will feature 17 wooden cabins, creating the appearance and atmosphere of a small festive village in Plaza de la Constitución.

The stalls will be operated by local businesses, self-employed professionals and craftspeople connected with Fuengirola. The selection process will prioritise projects whose products and presentation are closely linked to Christmas.

Although the final list of participating businesses will not be announced until 18 November, visitors can expect to find a variety of seasonal products, including:

  • Christmas decorations and ornaments.
  • Original gifts and handmade products.
  • Items created or sold by local businesses.
  • Decorative accessories for the home.
  • Traditional festive food products.
  • Special gift ideas for Christmas.

The aim is to provide an alternative to conventional shopping while encouraging visitors to buy locally produced and locally sold items.

Fuengirola Christmas Market dates and opening times

The market will open on 26 November and remain in place until 20 December, including both the opening and closing dates.

It will operate in two daily time slots:

  • Morning opening: 10.30am to 2.30pm.
  • Evening opening: 5pm to 9pm.

These opening hours will allow visitors to explore the stalls during the morning or later in the day, when the town centre’s Christmas lights will create an especially festive atmosphere.

Admission will be free and visitors will not need to book in advance.

Combine the market with Fuengirola’s Christmas lights

Plaza de la Constitución is one of Fuengirola’s main meeting places and occupies a central position within the town’s shopping district.

Visitors can combine the Christmas Market with a walk through the surrounding streets, an opportunity to see the seasonal decorations or a shopping trip to nearby stores.

With the cabins remaining open until 9pm, the market will be particularly appealing after the town’s Christmas lights have been switched on. A visit can also be combined with dinner or an afternoon snack in central Fuengirola.

Its location and relaxed atmosphere make it a suitable Christmas activity for families, couples and groups of friends looking for festive things to do in Fuengirola and on the Costa del Sol.

Supporting local businesses and craftspeople

Alongside its appeal as a visitor attraction, the market is intended to encourage local shopping and give the town’s businesses and craftspeople greater visibility during the Christmas season.

Businesses with premises open in Fuengirola, as well as self-employed traders and craftspeople producing Christmas-related items, can apply for one of the available wooden cabins.

A selection committee will assess the applications and choose the projects that best reflect the market’s festive theme. The final list of successful applicants will be announced on 18 November.

How businesses can apply for a cabin

Applications will remain open until 16 November 2026.

The participation rules and application form are available through Fuengirola Town Council’s online administrative portal, in the procedures catalogue under the Commerce section.

Completed applications must be submitted through the council’s official registry. Successful participants will be required to pay a fee of €242.50 per cabin.

The key dates for applicants are:

  • 16 November: application deadline.
  • 17 November: selection committee meeting.
  • 18 November: successful participants announced.
  • 19–23 November: payment period.
  • 25 November: cabin handover and installation.
  • 26 November: market opens.
