Sabor a Málaga comes to La Cala de Mijas: more than 350 products, tastings, showcookings and live music this weekend
La Cala Boulevard will bring together 36 producers from 20 municipalities across Málaga province from 25 to 27 September for the final regional food fair of the season. Cheeses, wines, olive oils, cured meats and sweets will share the spotlight with workshops, live cooking and music.
The flavours of Málaga province are coming together in La Cala de Mijas this weekend. From Friday 25 to Sunday 27 September, the Boulevard will host a new edition of Sabor a Málaga, featuring more than 350 artisan products from 36 companies based in 20 different municipalities.
The event offers visitors the chance to taste their way around the province without leaving the Costa del Sol: extra virgin olive oils, wines, goat cheeses, cured meats, honey, chocolate, bread, pastries, coffee, craft beer, subtropical produce and even natural cosmetics made with local citrus fruits will all be represented.
But the fair is much more than a food market. Over the three days there will also be tastings, showcookings, food workshops, children’s activities, traditional dance and live music, making it one of the main gastronomic plans on the Costa del Sol this weekend.
More than 350 products showcasing Málaga’s food scene
Sabor a Málaga was created by Málaga Provincial Council to promote local producers and the province’s agri-food sector.
This edition in La Cala will feature products from Alhaurín el Grande, Almargen, Antequera, Ardales, Arriate, Benamargosa, Coín, Colmenar, Faraján, Málaga, Mijas, Mollina, Periana, Pizarra, Rincón de la Victoria, Riogordo, Ronda, Teba, Vélez-Málaga and Villanueva del Trabuco.
The range goes from traditional staples to more unusual local products.
Visitors will find extra virgin olive oil, wines with Málaga and Sierras de Málaga protected designations of origin, Málaga goat cheeses, cured meats and Iberian products, as well as gluten-free pastries, jams, artisan chocolate, ice cream, locally roasted coffee, subtropical fruit, liqueurs and natural cosmetics made with citrus fruit from the Guadalhorce Valley.
Friday: gourmet sandwiches, local products and live music
The fair opens on Friday, 25 September at 11:00 am, with the official opening scheduled for midday.
Food activities begin from 1:00 pm with a session dedicated to gourmet sandwiches made with Sabor a Málaga products.
At 2:00 pm, the focus shifts to aperitif wines, Málaga citrus fruits and other local products.
Later in the day, culture and music take over. At 5:30 pm, there will be a traditional dance performance by the Mijas Universidad Popular, followed at 8:30 pm by live music from Mami Curl.
The first day closes at 9:00 pm.
Saturday: live cooking, Málaga mojitos and goat cheese tasting
Saturday, 26 September is one of the busiest days on the programme.
The fair will be open from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm, with a midday showcooking by chef Juanjo Carmona, from Flour, Aviva and Salitre.
Under the title A chef with many resources: fire, fish and Italian cuisine, Carmona will demonstrate different ways of working with local ingredients and techniques.
At 1:00 pm, visitors can join a workshop dedicated to the Málaga mojito, organised by Mesura.
An hour later, at 2:00 pm, the focus turns to local goat cheeses, with a tasting featuring semi-cured, cured and other varieties produced in the province.
The afternoon continues with another dance performance at 6:30 pm and a concert by Marca Blanca at 7:00 pm.
Sunday for families: cookies, cured meats and flamenco
Sunday will have a particularly family-friendly feel.
The fair opens at 11:00 am and, one hour later, younger visitors can take part in a cookie-making workshop led by Las Delicias de mi Noe.
At 1:30 pm, there will be a tasting and presentation dedicated to cured meats from Málaga province, offering the chance to discover products made by local producers.
Music will then close the weekend.
Jesús Miguel Navas will perform on viola at 5:30 pm, followed at 7:00 pm by a flamenco concert from Rafael Losada.
The fair officially ends at 8:00 pm on Sunday, 27 September.
From Ronda to Vélez-Málaga: producers from across the province
One of the attractions of Sabor a Málaga is being able to discover products from different parts of the province in a single place.
Participating businesses include olive oil producers such as Finca Rosa Alta, Aceites Periana and Oro Al-Ándalus; cheesemakers including Cabraline, El Pastor del Torcal, Quesos Montes de Málaga and Quesos El Pinsapo; as well as wineries, butchers, honey producers, bakeries, chocolatiers, coffee roasters and craft breweries.
In total, 36 companies will take part in this edition, which also marks the final stop on the 2026 calendar of Sabor a Málaga regional fairs.
Earlier events during the season have taken place in municipalities including Torremolinos, Vélez-Málaga, Benalmádena, Torrox, Nerja, Ronda, Antequera and Rincón de la Victoria.

A chance to taste Málaga without leaving La Cala
For three days, La Cala becomes a small gastronomic map of Málaga province.
For anyone interested in local food, small producers or simply looking for something different to do this weekend, Sabor a Málaga brings together a food market, tastings, live cooking, children’s activities and free music in one place.
This is also the fifth year that the fair has been held in Mijas, closing the 2026 regional calendar after the municipality’s 2025 edition generated around €120,000 in business, according to municipal figures.
The primary source for the information is Mijas Town Hall, which published the full programme, participating producers and opening times for the fair on 23 September 2026.
