Villa de Mijas Theatre Festival Marks Its 40th Edition with Four Free Performances

Four Open-Air Theatre Nights in Mijas Pueblo

The Villa de Mijas Theatre Festival reaches its 40th edition with four productions at the Miguel González Berral municipal auditorium in La Muralla. The festival runs from Thursday 24 to Sunday 27 September, with every performance starting at 9:00 p.m.

Local company Teatro Mijas will open the programme with Eterno Lorca, a tribute to Federico García Lorca featuring extracts from works including The House of Bernarda Alba, Yerma and Blood Wedding.

María Galiana, Apocalyptic Comedy and Opera with a Twist

On Friday 25 September, María Galiana will appear alongside Nieve de Medina, Anna Mayo and María Roja in Yo sólo quiero irme a Francia. The bittersweet comedy explores identity, abandonment and the emotional ties between generations.

Saturday 26 brings Survival, a story about a man preparing for a possible global collapse. What begins as a comedy uses social media and the constant flow of information to question how easily truth can become lost in the noise.

Yllana will close the festival on Sunday 27 with The Opera Locos. Five singers combine familiar opera pieces with other musical styles, physical comedy and clowning in a show for all ages.

All four performances are free until the auditorium reaches capacity. The venue is open-air and located in Mijas Pueblo.
