MálagaCrea 2026 Announces Its Young Writing Prize Winners

Three Prizes for Young Writers

The winners of MálagaCrea’s 2026 Young Literature Showcase have been announced. Paula Fernández won the short fiction category with Cuarenta años bajo el agua; Pedro Francisco Domínguez took the poetry prize for Nada termina en tierra firme; and David Yuste won the microfiction category with Recomendaciones.

The final took place on 16 September at La Caja Blanca, where the shortlisted works were read before the awards ceremony. Málaga City Council confirms that the short fiction and poetry winners each receive €1,200, while the microfiction prize is €300.

Seventy Entries

The competition received 70 works: 23 short stories, 13 poetry entries and 34 pieces of microfiction. MálagaCrea is aimed at writers aged 15 to 35 and seeks to bring emerging literary talent to a wider audience.

The showcase is part of the city’s wider programme supporting young creators across fields including visual arts, comics, film, music and video games.
