Álora Awaits the Return of Dolores Coronada

The Virgen de los Dolores Coronada will return to her church this Saturday after five months away for restoration. Her homecoming will allow Álora residents and members of her brotherhood to see one of the town’s most cherished Holy Week images again.

The Virgin is the titular image of the Dolores Coronada y Soledad brotherhood. Devotion to her is closely associated with La Despedía, the Good Friday encounter with Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno de las Torres that draws residents and visitors to Plaza Baja.

An Image Closely Linked to the Town

Her return comes less than a year after celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of her canonical coronation. In 2025, the brotherhood commemorated the occasion with religious services and a special procession through Álora.

Saturday will mark the devotees’ reunion with the Virgen de los Dolores following the restoration work and the resumption of her veneration at the church.
