Free Things to Do in Málaga for World Tourism Day 2026: Museums, Tours and an AI Workshop

A Sunday to Rediscover Málaga

On 27 September 2026, Málaga will celebrate World Tourism Day with guided visits and opportunities to explore its cultural heritage. This year’s theme focuses on digital tools and artificial intelligence in the future of tourism, while the city’s activities offer a chance to experience its art and history in person.

Admission rules differ by venue. Some places can be visited during their opening hours, while workshops and guided tours require registration or have limited capacity.

Carmen Thyssen Museum: Free Entry and Six Guided Tours

The Museo Carmen Thyssen Málaga will offer free admission from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. There will also be six free tours of its permanent collection: two in English at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., and four in Spanish at noon, 1 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Tours are limited to 20 people each. Visitors wishing to join one must sign up at the museum ticket desk on the day. See the museum’s event information.

An Open Day at the Historic San Miguel Cemetery

For an outdoor cultural visit, the Historic San Miguel Cemetery, at Plaza del Patrocinio, will be open free of charge from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Its chapel will also be open during the day.

The visit offers an opportunity to explore one of Málaga’s heritage sites and see its architecture and gardens. Check the open-day details.

Art Meets AI at MUCAC La Coracha

This year’s technology theme will be explored at MUCAC La Coracha, at Paseo de Reding, 1. From 6 p.m. to 7.30 p.m., the workshop New Perspectives: Creating a Journey with AI from the MUCAC will combine a visit to selected artworks with a collaborative activity using artificial intelligence.
