Torremolinos prepares to experience its Holy Week on the tenth anniversary of the Virgin of Peace

Torremolinos is already filled with the scent of orange blossoms as the tourist capital of the Costa del Sol prepares to celebrate Holy Week on the tenth anniversary of the Virgin of Peace, who will procession alongside Pollinico on Palm Sunday. During this week, the Brotherhood of Dolores will also procession their Sacred Holders on Good Friday. A Week of Passion that will begin on the Friday of Sorrows, when the Sacred Holders of the Brotherhood of Calvary will parade through the streets of the municipality for the second consecutive year. The Sacramental Brotherhood of Our Father Jesus of the Sentence and the Most Holy Mary of Calvary in their Painful Mysteries will procession for the second consecutive year on the Friday of Sorrows, April 11, at 8:00 PM. The procession will start from the Resurrected Christ Church and will pass through Rafael Quintana Rosado Street, Horacio Lengo, Bishop Julio María, Río Trueba, Vicente Aleixandre Square, Rafael Quintana Rosado Street, Europa, Fernando de Prado, Joan Miró Avenue, Doctor Jiménez Encina Street, and García de la Serna, ending at the Resurrected Christ Parish. The Most Holy Christ of the Sentence and the Virgin of Calvary will procession on the same throne carried by 80 people, accompanied by the Band of Bugles and Drums La Redención, from Arroyo de la Miel. This year, the brotherhood has restored the throne's base that it owned and also has a new throne table. Additionally, the Nazarenes will come out with new green hoods. The procession will be made up of around 550 brothers. The Brotherhood of Dolores will procession Jesus at his entry into Jerusalem and Holy Mary Queen of Peace will make their processional exit on April 13, Palm Sunday. 'La Pollinica' will start at 11:00 AM from the Mother of Good Counsel Church. Previously, at 9:30 AM, the Holy Mass and blessing of palms and olives will be celebrated. The procession route will pass through Mother of Good Counsel Street, Los Manantiales Avenue, Costa del Sol Square, Palma de Mallorca Avenue, Joan Miró Street, Doctor Jiménez Encima Street, Río Yeguas Street, Europa Street, Mother of Good Counsel Street, and return to its temple. The throne of Pollinico will be carried by 80 throne men and will be accompanied by the Musical Group Virgen del Carmen from Torrenueva, Granada. The throne of the Virgin Queen of Peace will be carried by 75 women and will be accompanied by the Musical Group of Benalmádena. About 400 people will participate in the Palm Sunday procession. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Virgin of Peace, so the brothers have prepared something very special, yet to be revealed. On April 18, the Brotherhood of Dolores will procession their other two Sacred Holders: Our Father Jesus Nazarene and Most Holy Mary of Sorrows. The procession will start at 7:00 PM from the Mother of Good Counsel Church and will pass through Mother of Good Counsel Street, Costa del Sol Square, Palma de Mallorca Avenue, Joan Miró Avenue, Doctor Jiménez Encina Street, García de la Serna Street, Rafael Quintana Rosado Street, Europa Avenue, Isabel Manoja Avenue, Mother of Good Counsel Street, and return to its temple. The Nazarene will be carried by 95 men and accompanied by the Musical Band of the Remedies, from Estepona. The Virgin of Sorrows will be carried by 85 men and accompanied by the Band of Music of Linarejos Coronada, from Jaén. The Good Friday procession will consist of around 550 people. As a novelty, this year Jesus Nazarene will have a new cincture donated. The brotherhood has also purchased new elements that enrich its processional heritage. The Brotherhood of Our Father Jesus Nazarene, Most Holy Mary of Sorrows, and Jesus at his entry into Jerusalem and Holy Mary Queen of Peace (known as the Brotherhood of Sorrows) has been in Torremolinos for over 40 years, strengthening its devotion and maintaining the tradition of celebrating Holy Week each year. It currently has more than 500 brothers, and its elder sister is Lourdes Farfán Rueda. The City Council informs that due to the processional exits, vehicular traffic will be affected and the streets through which the procession passes will be closed to vehicle passage as the procession advances.
