The former La Alvaroteca premises in Málaga has a new gastronomic tenant

Málaga’s gastronomic scene has added a new chapter at an address with history. The former premises of La Alvaroteca, located at Calle Gerona 39, now has a new tenant: Thai Food Noodles, a restaurant focused on Thai cuisine, noodles, pad thai, woks and Asian-inspired dishes.

The change is especially significant for many local food lovers, as this space was linked for years to the most personal project of Málaga chef Álvaro Ávila, who opened La Alvaroteca in 2013 in the Cruz de Humilladero district and turned the restaurant into a reference point for creative, bold and unconventional cuisine.

From creative Málaga cuisine to Thai flavours

Thai Food Noodles arrives with a very different proposal from the one that identified La Alvaroteca for years. The new restaurant offers an informal and direct menu, with dishes such as pad thai, noodles, udon noodles, wok vegetables, spring rolls, gyozas, chicken in mango sauce, teriyaki and different combinations with chicken, beef, prawns or vegetables.

After that period, Álvaro Ávila began a new professional chapter at El Nacional, in Málaga’s historic centre, where he continues to apply his creative vision to a proposal focused on Spanish products and local gastronomy.

Thai Food Noodles, a more everyday proposal

The new occupant of the premises represents a more accessible and everyday concept. Thai Food Noodles presents itself as a Thai restaurant offering lunch and dinner options, as well as takeaway and home delivery.

Its menu includes moderate prices, with many main dishes between €11 and €15, according to the information available on its website.

Among its specialities are the Original Pad Thai, made with tamarind sauce, bean sprouts, onion, carrot, peanuts, lime and coriander; noodles with different ingredients; wok-sautéed vegetables; and starters such as panko chicken, panko king prawns, vegetable rolls and curry triangles.

Cruz de Humilladero gains a new Asian option

The arrival of Thai Food Noodles adds to the gastronomic diversity of the Cruz de Humilladero area, a district that has shown in recent years that good food in Málaga is not limited to the historic centre, Soho or the seafront.

The neighbourhood has a loyal local clientele and a convenient location for those moving around the station area, Avenida de Andalucía or nearby districts. In this context, the new restaurant can work well as an option for informal lunches, weekday dinners or home delivery orders.
