Manilva is once again backing flamenco this summer with the opening of registrations for the 2nd Villa de Manilva Fandango Contest, a cultural event that will bring together performers of this traditional Andalusian genre in the heart of the municipality.

The contest will be held on Saturday 29 August, from 9 pm, in Calle Mar, Manilva, coinciding with the traditional Noche de Embrujo, which will take place on 28 and 29 August.

A celebration of fandango

The contest is organised by the Tourism and Culture departments of Manilva Town Hall, headed by councillors Agustín Vargas and Eva Galindo. Its aim is to promote one of Andalusia’s most recognisable musical expressions while strengthening the town’s cultural offer during the summer season.

The initiative forms part of a programme designed to attract both residents and visitors, combining music, tradition and a popular atmosphere in one of Manilva’s key summer events.

Prizes of up to €2,000

The 2nd Villa de Manilva Fandango Contest will award a total of €5,000 in prizes. The winner will receive €2,000, the second prize will be €1,500, and the third prize will be €1,000.

In addition, the organisers will award a special prize of €500 for the best fandango dedicated to Manilva, a category designed to strengthen the link between the contest, the municipality and its cultural identity.

Registration open until 14 August

Those interested in taking part can register until 14 August. Applications can be submitted by email to tecnicocultura@ayto-manilva.com and cultura@ayto-manilva.com.

With this second edition, Manilva consolidates a contest that combines artistic competition, flamenco tradition and cultural promotion in an evening designed to celebrate fandango as a living part of Andalusian heritage.
