Axarquía Promotes Its Campsites and Overnight Stay Areas to Attract Touring Visitors
The association of municipalities has compiled more than 20 sites for caravans, motorhomes and campsites to strengthen the region’s tourism promotion.
The Association of Municipalities of Axarquía Costa del Sol has launched a new initiative to promote the region’s offer of campsites, overnight stay areas and spaces equipped for caravans and motorhomes.
The initiative aims to give greater visibility to a growing type of tourism linked to nature, mobility and outdoor stays. To do so, information has been collected and digitised for more than 20 sites located across different municipalities in Axarquía.
The towns included in the catalogue include Vélez-Málaga, Torrox, Nerja, Rincón de la Victoria, Canillas de Albaida, Periana, Alcaucín, La Viñuela, Iznate and Comares, among other locations in the region.
A Digital Catalogue with Useful Information for Travellers
The offer has been added to Axarquía’s official tourism website, within the section dedicated to campsites and caravans.
Each site has its own information sheet with details such as location, access, available services, facilities and contact information. The aim is to make trip planning easier for those travelling by caravan or motorhome, as well as for visitors looking for accommodation linked to nature tourism.
The information has been prepared using official sources such as the Andalusian Tourism Register, the Environment Department of the Andalusian Government and the network of motorhome parking areas managed by the Andalusian Public Ports Agency.
A QR Code to Promote the Offer at Tourism Fairs
The association has also created a QR code that provides direct access to the catalogue of campsites and overnight stay areas.
This resource will be used at tourism fairs, professional events and sector meetings attended by the regional institution, especially alongside organisations such as Turismo Costa del Sol and Turismo Andaluz.
With this tool, Axarquía aims to improve the visibility of its tourism resources and position itself as a destination prepared to welcome travellers looking for this type of experience.
A Commitment to More Sustainable Tourism
The association highlights that camping and motorhome tourism can help diversify the region’s tourism offer and reduce seasonality.
This model makes it possible to combine coast, inland areas, nature, gastronomy, cultural routes and outdoor activities, reinforcing a more complete image of Axarquía Costa del Sol.
The institution will also ask the Andalusian Government and Málaga Provincial Council to update the available information on campsites, recreational areas, service areas and caravan spaces, with the aim of including them in new promotional materials, guides and tourism maps.
Overnight Stays Only in Authorised Areas
The campaign also reminds visitors that motorhome overnight stays must take place in authorised and regulated areas.
These spaces must have suitable facilities for the maintenance, supply and specific needs of these vehicles. The association stresses the importance of avoiding overnight stays in unauthorised areas, as this can generate waste, affect the natural environment and increase risks during the summer months.
A Tourist Profile with Strong Loyalty
According to data collected by the Andalusian Government, users of campsites and overnight stay areas show a high level of loyalty to the destination.
Seven out of ten usually repeat their visit compared with their previous holidays, and nearly 80% say they intend to return to Andalusia. Their main motivations are sun and beach, nature, gastronomy and shopping, all of which fit well with Axarquía’s diverse tourism offer.
