A total of eight facilities in the municipality will host from tomorrow, Friday, June 19, until Monday, June 22, the 21st edition of the Marbella Cup Soccer, an event that has established itself as one of the most prestigious international youth soccer tournaments in Spain. "The championship has seen steady growth since its inception in 2016, driven by the holding of its two annual calls, spring and summer," noted council member Lisandro Vieytes, who highlighted that the initiative "has turned Marbella and San Pedro Alcántara into a regular meeting point for thousands of young footballers from different autonomous communities and numerous countries."

On his part, the person in charge of the initiative, Ramón Gómez, detailed that this edition "will feature the participation of 1,800 players and the celebration of 197 matches in facilities spread throughout the city, from Las Chapas to San Pedro Alcántara," and he advanced that "the event will involve the stay of more than 2,200 people in hotel establishments of the city, including athletes, coaches, and family members." He also emphasized the importance of a competition that, over its 21 editions, has gathered tens of thousands of participants and companions, generating significant tourist and economic returns for the Costa del Sol and helping to position Marbella as one of the main European destinations for youth sports tourism.
