Marbella kicks off its Day Fair with 21 bars and a tribute to the Peña Los Mentirosos

Marbella inaugurated its Day Fair this Tuesday with a tribute to the Peña Los Mentirosos, featured on the cover installed at Paseo de la Alameda in recognition of its trajectory and its participation in the social and festive life of the municipality.

The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, was in charge of officially opening this edition and highlighted the atmosphere at the start of the festivities, which began the previous night with a speech by Aurelio Gómez Gutiérrez at the Puerto Deportivo Virgen del Carmen and the traditional fireworks display.

During the event, Germán Cervera was also named Popular King of the fair, a figure linked to the city and recognized by the residents. After the inauguration, the opening of the 21 bars distributed between Paseo de la Alameda and Avenida del Mar, the two main stages of the Marbella Day Fair, was carried out.

These spaces will once again gather thousands of residents and visitors throughout the week around gastronomy, music, and socializing, in one of the most anticipated events of the local festive calendar.

Muñoz has valued the organizational work done to coordinate the different participating groups and highlighted that the location in the urban center is one of the hallmarks of the fair. "It is one of the most fun fairs because it offers the opportunity to meet, share, and enjoy the atmosphere," she noted.

The celebration will also have a special security device made up of more than 500 personnel, including Local Police, National Police, Firefighters, Civil Protection, health services, and support staff; over thirty surveillance cameras at strategic points and five drones intended for aerial supervision tasks.

The inaugural day also included activities such as the coronation of the queens and kings of the active participation centers for seniors, held at the Caseta Mi Hogar, in addition to the intergenerational initiative 'Come grandpa to the fair' and various musical performances.

This year, the fair comes with innovations at the fairground, which has added more than 10,000 square meters and a new space aimed at young people, as part of the municipal project to move towards a permanent venue for major events in Marbella.
