Danone, a leading yogurt brand, has promoted a study, within the framework of World Nutrition Day, to highlight the mental burden associated with daily dietary decisions in millions of families. The results show that children's nutrition has become the main daily concern in Spanish households. Specifically, 7 out of 10 Andalusian parents state that ensuring good nutrition creates a greater mental burden than other key aspects of parenting.

This pressure is compounded by high demands in daily life. 75% of Andalusian parents acknowledge juggling work and family responsibilities without compromising on providing quality food for their children.

That is why nowadays providing good nutrition for children is perceived as an increasing challenge. 84% of Andalusian parents feel more pressure today to feed well than previous generations, a feeling that intensifies in a context of information overload where, despite the abundance of available content, only 16% of Andalusian parents consider that they receive clear and useful information to make decisions.

The invisible cost of the nutritional burden

The economic context adds an additional layer of complexity to family nutrition. 87% of Andalusian parents state that constant increases in grocery costs influence their daily choices at the supermarket, reflecting the difficulty of balancing quality, nutrition, and budget on a daily basis. A constant pressure that forces many families to compare more, plan more, and make increasingly calculated decisions in order to manage everything without compromising on feeding their children well.

An emotional burden as well

And it is that this effort goes far beyond the act of feeding: it involves planning, anticipating, comparing options, and constantly resolving unforeseen issues. All of this translates into significant mental wear: 7 out of 10 Andalusian parents claim that nutrition represents a high level of emotional demand.

The study also highlights a less visible dimension: the emotional burden associated with parenting. Only 17% of Andalusian parents feel that their daily efforts are truly recognized, while 92% admit to feeling that they are not doing well enough for the well-being of their children.

The Club de Malasmadres and its Yo No Renuncio Association have been giving voice and figures to the invisible weight mainly borne by women and mothers in caregiving, due to the lack of support, real conciliation, and parenting support for over a decade. Their relationship with Danone began six years ago, with initiatives like 'You're Not Less of a Mother', aimed at banishing the guilt and pressure mothers feel when caring. According to Laura Baena, founder of Club de Malasmadres, “mothers feel eternally guilty throughout our motherhood, with a feeling of insufficiency that prevents us from being the happy mothers we would like to be. It is necessary to accompany and provide a favorable context that allows living motherhood with less self-imposed judgment and more freedom."

In this context, Danone reinforces its historic commitment to families. The brand has been accompanying them for over a century with a wide range of high-quality yogurts at affordable prices, with essential products that, since 2023, do not exceed one euro per four-pack, thus reinforcing its commitment to healthy and accessible nutrition. An effort that is recognized by nearly 65% of Andalusian parents who consider Danone yogurt a healthy and practical brand.

“At Danone, we have been a part of the daily lives of families for over 100 years, adapting to their needs and accompanying them in something as fundamental as nutrition. We know that behind each daily decision there is a silent effort that often goes unnoticed. Therefore, from Danone, we want to recognize and highlight the daily commitment of mothers and fathers."
