The Sports Council of the Vélez-Málaga City Hall has launched a free female self-defense workshop specifically designed for the women of the municipality. The activity will take place on Friday, June 19, starting at 10:00 AM, at the facilities of the "Maestro Salvador Sánchez" sports pavilion in Torre del Mar.

The main goal of this initiative is to provide participants with basic notions and physical and psychological skills to effectively react to risky situations, aggressions, or disturbances. The Sports Councilor, Manuel Gutiérrez, explained that the course focuses primarily on the prevention of gender violence, aiming for users to acquire essential tools to repel possible domestic violence situations or assaults in public spaces.

The classes will be taught by José Antonio Gómez, a certified martial arts teacher and specialist in self-protection techniques. The training program will focus on simple movements based on agility, anticipation, and the use of the aggressor's own force, so that any woman can successfully execute them regardless of her age or physical condition.

The City Hall has announced that places to attend this session are limited. All women interested in participating can register starting today by visiting in person the usual sales points of the Sports Council, or by reserving a spot by phone at 689 367 306.
