The Local Government Board of the Marbella City Council approved this Tuesday the renovation licenses for the Senator and Guadalmina hotels, which represent an investment of nearly 18 million euros and reflect "a position of the municipality within the tourist circuits," according to the municipal spokesperson, Félix Romero.

The councilor noted that, on one hand, definitive approval has been given, after meeting a prior condition, to the remodeling project of the Hotel Senator Marbella, with an execution budget of almost 13 million euros. On the other hand, permission has been granted for the modification of the renovation and expansion of the Hotel Guadalmina, with nearly 5 million euros allocated.

“These types of investments are framed within the dynamics of the tourism sector, where operators make decisions based on their market analysis and expectations for the evolution of the destination,” stated the councilor, who also mentioned that “projects of this caliber are a further indicator linked to the position of the municipality within the tourist circuits.”

He also recalled that such initiatives generate significant economic effects in the city, especially in activities related to the execution of construction works, supplies, and auxiliary services.

In the cultural sphere, the city has agreed to join the Andalusian Network of Public Theaters for the year 2026. This initiative will allow access to theater, music, dance, and circus shows in municipal scenic spaces such as CAE La Alcoholera.

“This institutional collaboration facilitates the diversification of the cultural offer and access to shared programming circuits,” the councilor elaborated.

Budget Modifications

Finally, an account has been given of the processing of budget modifications that will be presented at the next municipal plenary session for an approximate total amount of 1.2 million euros.

These modifications come partly from savings generated in contracting processes and partly from the incorporation of funds linked to European programs.

Romero detailed that these resources will be allocated, among other actions, to the creation of a multi-use center in the Calvario park area, the installation of a green wall at the entrance to Puerto Banús, the acquisition of ornamental elements for the coastal path, and the implementation of video surveillance and traffic control systems in the La Ermita industrial estate, as well as to the reinforcement of budget items designated for municipal sports infrastructures and the technical management of the corresponding works.
