The City Council of Marbella has enhanced the accessibility along the municipality's coastline with nine assisted bathing points, which began operation during Easter and will continue to be available until the end of September, as announced this Monday by the mayor, Ángeles Muñoz.
The mayor pointed out that “Marbella is fortunate to have 27 kilometers of coastline and we have long understood that we needed to implement all possible resources so that anyone, regardless of their circumstances, can enjoy our beaches.”
She specified that “it is a service that is distributed every two and a half to three kilometers from Cabopino to Guadalmina, ensuring complete coverage” and emphasized that “it is an initiative that responds to a clear vocation of inclusion and quality.”
Muñoz detailed that “the scheme includes the use of amphibious chairs and the support of specialized personnel who facilitate water access for people with reduced mobility, elderly individuals from nursing homes, or users with special needs,” explaining that “the goal is to provide personalized attention where citizens, with a simple phone call, can coordinate their assistance and enjoy the bathing experience with total safety.”
Support Infrastructures
She also highlighted the improvement in the support infrastructures, such as the expansion of the access walkways, which have increased from one and a half meters wide to three meters, “significantly easing mobility and transit to the shore for users with difficulties.”
Muñoz mentioned that “the program is utilized by numerous senior residences, whose users find in this initiative an opportunity to enjoy the sea with the necessary guarantees,” and stressed that “this effort is part of a model of tourism excellence reflected in these nine beaches, which have Blue Flag and quality certifications, where lifeguard services, maintenance, and accessibility are essential.” Those interested can reserve this assisted bathing service through the toll-free phone number 658 618 333.
