Torremolinos pays tribute to Manuel de Falla on Andalusia Day

Torremolinos will pay tribute to Manuel de Falla on February 28, Andalusia Day, to commemorate the 150th anniversary of his birth. The event will take place at 11:30 AM in Plaza Costa del Sol. The program focuses on one of the most universally renowned Andalusian composers, Manuel de Falla, a reference in 20th-century Spanish music and a symbol of the international projection of Andalusian culture. The program includes performances of two of Manuel de Falla's most emblematic works, arranged for piano and violin: 'Nana' and 'Ritual Fire Dance', performed by Mario Campoy on piano, and Javier Navarro on violin. The event will also incorporate a contemporary creation that demonstrates the continuity and vitality of this tradition today. The piece, titled 'Ayra/Brizza', is a musical reflection on Andalusian folklore from a contemporary perspective. It will be presented by composer Eneko Vadillo, a resident of Torremolinos and born in Málaga. On the same day, February 28, at 11:00 AM, a floral tribute will be held in honor of Blas Infante, at the square that bears his name. At around 12:00 PM, residents and visitors can enjoy a parade by the panda de verdiales band from Almogía, starting from Plaza Costa del Sol and moving through San Miguel Street, Plaza de la Unión Europea, and Plaza Andalucía. The elderly in Torremolinos will have their traditional Andalusian breakfast of bread with oil and coffee. It will be offered at all active participation centers and municipal community centers at 10:00 AM. Registrations can be made at these centers. The band workshop of the Torremolinos Municipal School of Music, under the direction of teacher Raúl Benítez Cala, will offer a free concert titled 'Andalusian Images: Long Live the Pasodoble'. It will be held on February 19 at 7:00 PM in the auditorium of the Pablo Ruiz Picasso Cultural Center. Additionally, the Mercado Sabor a Málaga will be set up on Avenida Palma de Mallorca from February 26 to March 1, from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM, featuring local agricultural products from the province of Málaga and live musical performances.
