The Happiness Pill – La Coracha Theatre Premiere in Málaga

La pastilla de la felicidad (The Happiness Pill) is the new production by Málaga-based company La Coracha Teatro, opening Teatro Cánovas’ 2026/2027 season with its world premiere on 2 and 3 October.

The play presents a dystopian society in which happiness and personal fulfilment are no longer aspirations but social obligations. Using humour, satire and an accessible style, the production explores toxic positivity, the medicalisation of emotional distress, motivational culture, the pressure to appear constantly happy and the growing role of technology in personal decisions.

The show also questions what happens when sadness, pain, uncertainty and frustration are treated as individual failures rather than natural human emotions. Rather than providing simple answers, it invites audiences to reflect on the kind of society being created and the price of constantly trying to feel good.
