Malaga Airport will register an average of 44 more flights per day this Christmas

Family gatherings and trips to discover new ways to experience the Christmas season boost the number of landing and takeoff operations to 8,051 planned in this infrastructure during said period. The figure represents no less than 872 more flights than last year on these same dates.

This Friday will be the day with the most activity in the terminals and runways, with airlines having scheduled 448 flights, followed by the 27th with 444. Conversely, the quietest day of the Christmas period is expected to be Thursday, the 25th, with only 216 air movements planned.

Of the 8,051 flights that companies have scheduled, 6,232 are to or from airports outside of Spain. The rest, 1,819 are flights with national connections.

Malaga confirms that it is the gateway for travelers to Andalusia with the activity planned for Christmas. Far behind the 8,051 operations at the Malaga airport facilities on these dates, Sevilla Airport follows with 3,680 flights. They are followed by Granada, with 564; Almería with 306, and Jerez, with 222.

It is worth mentioning that Malaga Airport is anticipating an unprecedented winter in terms of connections and air capacity. This infrastructure will connect with 135 destinations until the end of March, seven more than last year in the same period, from 118 cities in 34 countries. Moreover, the 42 airlines that will operate these flights have strengthened their commitment to the Costa del Sol in the low season. So much so that it is the first time that the figure of ten million seats to fly from and to the Malaga destination has been reached, compared to 9.7 million last year. Specifically, Aena has announced that airlines have scheduled a total of 10.3 million seats for this winter. The figure represents a 6.1% increase over 2024 and the largest increase among the major infrastructures.

During this winter season, 58,200 flights will land on the runways of the airport until March, a 5.4% increase over last year, with destination or origin from the 274 available routes, since several airlines will operate to the same destination. This figure represents fourteen more than in 2024. Aena points out that of this total, 182 will connect Malaga with Europe, with a 6.3% increase in seats totaling eight million, and a 5.7% increase in scheduled movements with the Old Continent than in the same dates last year, rising to 42,562.
