The MVA partners with the Jazz Seminar and expands its Jazz Festival in its ninth edition

From February 21 to March 23, the Málaga Provincial Council celebrates its IX MVA Jazz Festival. Local, national, and international artists will perform three concerts on the stage of the cultural center on calle Ollerías in Málaga and three more in the towns of Benalmádena, Fuengirola, and Archidona.

This was announced by the Provincial Deputy of Culture, Manuel López Mestanza, along with the Councilor for Culture of Benalmádena, Jéssica Trujillo; the Director of Culture of Fuengirola, Lydia Merino; and Pablo García, head of the International Jazz Seminar, with which the MVA Jazz Festival has been closely linked and continues to collaborate.

The vice-president of the Provincial Council also recalled yesterday that the International Jazz Seminar is unique in Andalusia and the longest-standing in Spain. It is widely recognized worldwide and has welcomed students from all over Spain, Europe, America, and Asia who come to participate in masterclasses and jam sessions with renowned international instructors. Additionally, they attend the concerts of the MVA Jazz Festival. Although it was originally held in Alhaurín de la Torre, it has been celebrated in Cártama for the last two years, and in its 21st edition, it moves to Fuengirola. This year, as explained by Pablo García, 15 students and one teacher from a school in Valencia affected by the DANA will participate.

In close collaboration with this seminar, the Provincial Council celebrates the MVA Jazz Festival, which brings local, national, and international artists to both the MVA Cultural Center and various municipalities in the province, this year including Benalmádena, Fuengirola, and Archidona.

The tickets for the concerts at the MVA will be free and can be reserved from February 24 at 10:00 AM at mientradaet.

On Wednesday, February 26, at 8:30 PM, the MVA stage will host Jaume Llombart Quartet, with Jaume Llombart on guitar, Camil Arcarazo on double bass, RJ Miller on drums, and Enrique Oliver on sax.

Jazz continues at the MVA on Thursday, February 27 at 8:30 PM with Javier Vercher Quartet, featuring Toni Vaquer on piano, DJ Foster on double bass, and Andreu Pitarch on drums.

The last concert at the MVA, on Friday, February 28 at 8:30 PM, will feature Kevin Hays (piano), Joe Martin (double bass), and RJ Miller (drums).

Moreover, on Friday, February 21, at 8:30 PM, the Casa de la Cultura in Benalmádena will host The Blue Horses, with Milton Rodríguez on guitar; Inoidel González on tenor sax and flute, Markus Schneider on double bass, Adrián Jiménez on drums, and Pablo García on tenor and soprano sax.

On Saturday, March 1, at 9:00 PM, Sara Dowling Quartet will be at the Casa de la Cultura in Fuengirola. Alongside Dowling, named best vocalist at the British Jazz Awards 2019, will be Enrique Oliver on sax, Jaume Llombart on guitar, DJ Foster on double bass, and Andreu Pitarch on drums. The festival will conclude on Sunday, March 23 at 8:00 PM at the Auditorio José Luis Miranda in Archidona with Proyecto X.
