Don Pablo, part of the Sol Torremolinos Resort complex along with Don Pedro and Don Marco, faces the start of the high activity season after a significant renovation. As Jaime Floyer, the director of these establishments, explains, the executed project took place during the winter of 2024 to 2025. These works are part of the master plan initiated by Meliá Internacional, the owner of the accommodations, in 2016. In the case of Don Pablo, the update affects the entire facade, combined with the expansion of 39 standard rooms and the creation of junior suites, all with sea views, to expand the customer offering.

The investment, which includes the renovation of the front and the new rooms, as well as changes in the bathrooms of Don Pablo's rooms, amounts to 13 million euros. With this figure, Floyer points out, a total of 52 million has been reached since the beginning of the master plan. "Thus, a classic from the 1970s has been transformed into a modern complex, prepared for the next decades of quality tourism on the Costa del Sol," reflects Floyer.

Going into detail, the works have had several functions. The first, most obvious, was to make the building, which has been standing for half a century, more in line with the modernized style and atmosphere of the rest of the complex. At the same time, it has been made lighter and more energy efficient.

Regarding the junior suites, it was necessary for them to be included in the accommodation options, as the director of Sol Torremolinos Resort clearly states, since they are highly demanded by congress and incentive groups during the off-peak seasons at the destination. "In high season, they become family rooms," details Floyer, who remembers that Torremolinos, although it attracts a very diverse public, is very popular as a vacation spot for families.

It should be noted that, according to data from Meliá Internacional, the complex, with 325 employees on staff, accounts for half a million overnight stays per year.

The goal of the master plan, which has reached its final phase with Don Pablo, inaugurated in 1974, seeks to ensure that the customer, in Floyer's words, has the best possible experience of the three buildings, with large gardens and other facilities. "Every year, except for the two pandemic years, we have undertaken renovations in one or another of the three hotels during the five months of winter," indicates the head of the complex, conveying this key point: "Beyond a decorative renovation, it was about changing the way in which guests enjoy their stay at the hotels. In this way, they can use all the facilities of the complex. Paths have been created both outside and inside that invite guests to move around and reach the four restaurants, the nine swimming pools, and various entertainment and leisure areas."

Another key aspect of this renovation is the centralization of the kitchens of the three hotels into one, which allows for better service throughout all seasons of the year, specifies Floyer.

In summary: "All the rooms are completely renovated, as well as all the noble areas and the infrastructure facilities of the buildings. The convention and meeting center is completely up to date."
