Free concerts and a tribute dinner for seniors: Las Lagunas de Mijas gears up for its fair
The lighting will take place on the evening of the 25th, and that day will also be dedicated to children, with special prices on the attractions.
The fair at Las Lagunas de Mijas will kick off next Wednesday, June 25, and will continue until Sunday, June 29. Flamenco singer Isabel Guerrero was in charge a few days ago of revving up for this urban center's major celebration, where music and its free concerts will play a prominent role. Children's Day and the traditional senior citizens' dinner will also be featured.
Thus, the Las Lagunas Fair will open on the 25th at 10:00 PM with the lighting of the artistic illumination. That first day will be a special day for children, hence the children's rides will have a reduced price of 2.50 euros after an agreement was reached between the City Council and the fairground operators. Also, considering individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), every day from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM there will be no music and the noise in the rides area will be reduced, as the mayor explained, intending to make this celebration more inclusive.
The first day will also witness the presentation of candidates to become the fair's queen and king at 10:30 PM in the municipal marquee.
This year's concert lineup will include Marisol Bizcocho and Álvaro García (June 25), José Manuel Soto and Siempre Así (June 26), DeCai and Sergio Contreras (June 27), Juanfra Carrasco, María Terremoto, and Anabel Valencia (June 28), and Fran Ocaña and Los Yakis (June 29). All these musical performances will take place in the municipal marquee and entry will be free until full capacity is reached.
The schedule will be rounded out with live performances by orchestras and cover bands such as Decibelios, Alba Dreid, Ronald y Los Yeyes, among others. There will also be performances by dance groups from the UP and various academies.
Seniors will take center stage on Thursday, June 26, as they will be honored with a welcome cocktail and will be greeted by the festival board and the municipal corporation.
This tribute will start at 9:00 PM and during the dinner, the Grandfather and Grandmother of the 2024 fair will be presented with gifts. All seniors who have previously picked up the necessary invitation at the Municipal Department for Seniors can attend this dinner.
